The Progress
The Mesquite Chamber of Commerce added a fun component to their March luncheon, held at the Cinnamon Café on Wednesday, March 8.
Chamber President/CEO Carol Kolson said that it was good to mix things up a bit. “Mesquite Chamber wanted to do something fun and take care of some business at the same time,” Kolson said. “So we decided to do a twist on our ‘What’s Happening Mesquite’ breakfast during a luncheon! We gave each business 60 seconds to talk about their business.”
That twist proved quite interesting. Each business in attendance was allowed one representive to speak for one minute promoting the business. Although some may have had something prepared to say, it kind of fell apart once one person began with some humor. After that, it was pretty much ad-libbing, to the enjoyment of the members present.
The mic was handed off from one member to another adding entertaining, yet informative content to the attendees. There was a lot of laughter and comradery going on among the members. Approximately seventeen members got their minute in the limelight.
The host Cinnamon Café used the buffet luncheon to introduce some of their Mexican cuisine now available on the dinner menu on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
In an informative address, Kolson said that Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo has given a voice to rural communities in Nevada. She said that she wanted to give him a shout out for that. Kolson added that she will be attending some state conferences next week where she will speak up in behalf of the Mesquite chamber members.
A new chamber member; Hanna Mac Photography based in southern Utah and winner of the Best of Southern Photography Utah for 2022; was taking the photos during the luncheon.
Charlotte Sirianni of Juniper Outpost said, “This luncheon was so much fun, it made us all feel closer together.”
“The food was awesome and the business networking was in full swing,” Kolson said. “It was definitely a successful luncheon.”
