The Progress
It is time for a good old-fashion “Gunsmoke”-style Western melodrama, here in the Virgin Valley. The Mesquite Community Theatre group is urging area resident to put on their cowboy boots and amble on over to the theater for a mighty good time.
This rollicking original melodrama, Dastardly Desert Desperados, was written by two local writers Nancy Arnold and Sue Kjellsen. Arnold is also the director of the production. These two writers are known to tickle the funny bone of local audience members.
This production sports a large cast of cowboys, dance hall girls and bank robbers, all gathered in Lizard, Nevada. Marshal Silverado is played by John Sadler. Robyn Banks is played by Joy Craig. Upton O Goode is played by Race Johnston. Saloon owner Sally Forth is played by Marie Palmer.
In the play, the Beaver Dam bank has just been robbed and the thieves are thought to be in Lizard at the same time the famous “Songbird of the West Sara Heartburn” is scheduled to arrive for a performance. It is the wild west villains and damsels in distress.
The show is fixing to be some shindig, so bring your kin and come on down.
The show has several performances over the next two weekends. On the evenings of March 17, 18, 24, 25 and 31 the curtains rise at 7 pm. Matinee performances will take place on March 19, 26 and April 1 at 2 PM.
You can purchase ticket at the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery or on line at VVTG.com or at the box office one hour prior to show time. All tickets are $22.
