The Progress
The Moapa Valley High School Culinary Arts program held a Taco Tuesday fundraiser last week to help money for the team’s planned end-of-year trip to Disneyland in Anaheim California. The main hallway was like a food fiesta during school hours for the event on Tuesday, March 28.
Tacos were sold for $8 a plate. A plate consisted of two tacos, beans, rice and pico de gallo salsa. The food was all prepared cooked and sold by students of the culinary program.
In addition, the culinary students had set up banners and signs in the hallway, directing their fellow students to the ordering station in front of the culinary classroom.
The tacos were a big hit and many students were tempted by the alluring aroma of the delectable dish. The culinary class was able to successfully meet their fundraising quota for the Disneyland leadership conference which they will attend on April 21-22.
Students are now looking forward to an amazing opportunity to learn more about leadership and to enjoy themselves at an amusement park.
Angelica Perez, a Culinary III student, helped with cooking for the taco fundraiser.
“My favorite part of this event is being able to serve the community with our food,” Perez said. “I know everyone is proud of the hard work and dedication we put into these events. Being able to interact with everyone and show them our cooking skills is great!”
“I had so much fun all three years of the Culinary Arts program,” Perez added. “I would definitely recommend taking it. You learn a lot and make many good friends through this course!”

This was a great activity. I only wish I had known, I could have got some for me. Tacos is one of my favorite foods.
I love how our students have activities to earn the money to do their trips. We have awesome kids in this Valley.
