The Progress

Members of the Virgin Valley FFA Chapter gather for a photo in the park as they prepare for their first ever Community Egg Hunt whihc brought more than 300 people to hunt for Easter Eggs.

The Virgin Valley FFA Chapter held its first-ever community egg hunt on Friday, April 7. The Chapter officers planned the egg hunt at the beginning of the year for their Program of Activities. About a week prior, the group began discussing their plans for the search and started to get things ready by making fliers, filling eggs, painting a photo stand-in, and more.

For some members, the day of the event started at 10:30 am to begin set up. The chapter was to offer face painting, music, basket raffles, a bake sale, and even a photo booth area at the event.

The VVHS Hope Squad also had a vendor table and Mrs. Zardnt graciously showed up with a goat for the kids to pet and take pictures with.
“I had a really fun time planning the egg hunt! said Southern Zone Vice President Kitzia Perez. “We got to fill a ton of eggs and I am so glad people showed up!”

The worries about turnout were unwarranted. The event drew an amazing turnout of about 300 people. Kids came ready to hunt the eggs.

The 1-4-year-olds went first beginning at 12:15. The kids and their parents lined up all across the field and cleared all the eggs quickly.

Eight-year-old Zofia Trujillo said her favorite part of the event was the face painting, “I am glad I got to see my friends and had a lot of fun”.

Ages 5-7 went next followed by ages 8-11 and ages 12-14. Each age group had a special egg that came with a prize and the 12-14 age group had Starbucks cups hidden.

Throughout the event, kids got their face paint, took pictures, and the attendees raffled on twelve baskets. The FFA was very grateful to local companies who donated baskets. Dutch Bros gave away a gift card, cup, and stickers! Hole Food Bakery’s basket came with a shirt, gift certificate, and some other prizes. Splash Pad also donated four gift cards! Other baskets included a hiking kit, flower arrangements, a scooter, and more.

The FFA officer group was excited to hold an Egg Hunt for the kids to enjoy.
“After returning from our state convention with only a week and a half, my underclassmen Kitzia Perez, Rosalie Ponce, and Olivia Bunker took on the task of leading the plans for the community Easter Egg Hunt!” said FFA Advisory Bailey Kesl. “With only a week, my students worked extremely hard to bring this event to our community. To our surprise and amazement, the whole town showed up to support our event! I am truly grateful to our community for participating and making our first annual FFA Easter Egg hunt a success!”
