WELCOME TO THE FAIR: World-Class Rodeo Action at the Clark County Fair

By RYLAN SPROUL

The Progress

Since 1988, the rodeo event has always provided a must-see event to the Clark County Fair. Over the years, the rodeo has brought in some of the best of the best cowboys and cowgirls from all around the world to compete here in Logandale.

The world-class event is a Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) and Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) rodeo. Each year, the PRCA brings hundreds of talented cowboys and cowgirls to compete in a series of competitions including bull riding, bronc riding, roping events, barrel racing and many other rodeo events. They all are here over the next five days to compete over a $140,000 purse.

Along with the competitive events the PRCA rodeo brings in top notch entertainment and announcing into the Logandale arena.

This year’s rodeo announcer will be the legendary Andy Seiler. Seiler has announced all over the country in PRCA events. “I truly enjoy being a part of an industry that embodies an American icon that is the cowboy,” Seiler has said. “I grew up on a farm, loving the honesty, toughness, and the integrity that comes with the ranching and farming way of lif. Today’s (rodeo) contestants keep that tradition of yesterday alive.”

Keeping things lively in the arena this year will be rodeo clown Cody Sosebee. Hailing from Charleston, Arkansas, Sosebee spent his early hears as a bareback and bull rider. But an accidental career path was presented to him and he became a rodeo barrelman and rodeo clown. Nowadays, Sosebee provides sidesplitting entertainment that has attracted rodeo audiences nationwide.

The thrill of the rodeo is accessible to audiences of all ages and backgrounds. There is something for everyone to enjoy. The nightly rodeo tradition at the Clark County Fair draws thousands of spectators each year. And on those nights, the western spirit of the classic American rodeo permeates the fairgrounds, captivating attendees who don’t get to experience it on a day to day basis.

The toughest of the tough – both in cowboys and in rough stock – come to Logandale to compete in the bullriding event at the Clark County Fair.

This rodeo, along with many parts of the fair, takes a lot of work to put on. There are many sponsorships and volunteers working together to put on a small-town rodeo to the caliber of this event.

A regular favorite is the sponsored team roping events that have become an annual tradition. Sponsors for the fair and rodeo select local roping teams to represent them each night at the rodeo in a special sponsored roping portion of the event. The winning team ropers on each evening advance to the final night to see who will take home the grand prize and, more importantly the local bragging rights to this fun event.

“It’s a fun time to showcase some of our sponsors and local team roping talent.” said Mandee Davis who puts together a local flag team to showcase the sponsors with their very own flag being run during the rodeo.

The rodeo is sponsored this year by: Wardley Real Estate; Tri State Construction; Nevada Farm Bureau; Lin’s Fresh Market; Jacobs; Hirschi Companies; Green Valley Grocery; Cooper Roofing & Solar; Apco Equipment; Bex Sunglasses; Animal Medical Hospital; American Stitch; America First Credit Union; Empire CAT; Ram Rodeo Series; Las Vegas; Coors; Cinch; CMC Tire; American Eagle Ready Mix; NVEnergy; Star Nursery; PCanyon Plumbing; Anderson Dairy; Kepner; Justin Sports MEdicine; TNT Auction; South Point; Nationals Structions Event Services; Red Bone Trucking; Simplot Silica; Hy-Rock; Heavy Metal Equipment & Rentals; CindRLite Block Company; Western States Contracting.

It takes a lot of volunteers and sponsors to host the 726 entries of rodeo contestants.
“This year the rodeo is sponsored by CINCH western wear which is new from the years’ previous sponsor of Wrangler,” said Davis.
“We attract the best talent in the world,” Davis added. “These men and women are the ones you’d see competing at the National Finals Rodeo each year.”

The PRCA rodeo takes place every night of the Clark County Fair. From Wednesday to Saturday, the rodeo starts at 7 pm. On Sunday night, the finals, the big event starts at 6 pm. For more information or to purchase tickets to this exciting event visit ccfair.com/rodeo.
