A crowd assembled in front of the newly-constructed building at the corner of Mesquite Blvd. and Sandhill Blvd on Saturday afternoon for a grand opening event of the Nevada Bank & Trust building.

The Mesquite Chamber of Commerce began the activities with a special ribbon cutting ceremony for the bank’s newest location. It was a festive crowd in attendance on a beautiful spring day!

A large group of Nevada Bank & Trust officials were in attendance to usher in the opening of the new branch. Nevada Bank & Trust CEO Spencer Hafen, and Mesquite branch manager David Lowe were excited to invite people through the doors of the new building and show what operations will look like inside.

Bank Chairman Frank Chadwick, CFO Alan Markarian, and board members Matt Chadwick, Gordon Wadsworth, Corey Wadsworth and Kraig Hafen were all in attendance for the event.
Attending from the city were Mesquite Mayor Al Litman, Fire Chief Jayson Andrus and City Councilwoman Karen Fielding.

Chamber President/CEO Carol Kolson coordinated the ribbon cutting with chamber board chairwoman Christi Neff and board members Norman Utley and Kelly Adams also in attendance.

Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo sent a representative, Sonny Vinuya to say a few words at the ceremony. Vinuya congratulated the bank and the community on behalf of the Governor.

“Nevada Bank and Trust opened its first branch in Caliente and it has been a beacon of trust, reliability and innovation in the financial industry ever since,” Vinuya said. “Their commitment and ability to offer one on one personal service without compromising customer safety and security, provides value to their customers and their community.”

Spencer Hafen also spoke for a few moments just before the ribbon was cut. He reminisced about growing up in Mesquite and frequently driving by this street corner when it was called “The Corner Bar.”

“It has been vacant for a long time now,” Hafen said. “A couple of years ago, we thought it was time for our little bank to build a new building here. So the board of directors and the bank got together and selected this site and went to work.”

Hafen expressed appreciation to Pat Larson construction for building the new bank and Garett Chadwick for the beautiful design.

Nevada Bank & Trust has had a branch office in Mesquite for the past fifteen years. It is now moving its operation from its former location on Mesquite Blvd and Sun Valley Drive to this handsome new building.
“This new location will give the bank much more exposure,” Frank Chadwick said, “That will be better for us.”

Besides showing off the interior of the new building, the bank staff handed out raffle tickets to be drawn at the end of the day for prizes and a $5 off coupon to use at the food truck on hand for lunch. White Boys Taco’s, The Corn Dog Company and Fizz Bizz were there to serve the public.

Shawn Naldey, attendee told the Progress her and her two friends were happy to see the new bank building. But they were here for the tacos.

The new bank branch has been open since Monday and will be open Monday thru Friday 9am to 5 pm.
“I am happy to see such a good turnout,” said branch manager David Lowe. “I was a little worried, but all was good.”
