Otto ‘Bud’ Gumprecht

Otto “Bud” Gumprecht, 88, passed away on April 24, 2023 in his home in Overton, NV. He was the third of four children born to Helen Louise and Otto Gumprecht on February 3, 1935 in Shelton, NE.

He moved with his parents to a farm near Yampa, CO. In 1940, the family moved again to Toponas, CO to live on a farm. He attended the local schools and graduating from Yampa Union High School in 1954. After graduation, he attended Colorado State University majoring in Agriculture.

Following his first year of college, he enlisted in the U.S. Army until he was discharged due to a heart murmur. He returned to Toponas, CO and became a rancher. There he was actively involved in community and county affairs including Farm Home Administration, Soil Conservation and the local Fair Board.

In 1977, he sold his ranch and moved to Overton, NV. In Overton, he started the “Splinters Workshop” where he made and repaired wood items. Along with his wood crafts, he enjoyed gardening in his yard, fishing on Lake Mead, and getting together with his “Coffee Group”.

Bud is survived by his sister, Janice (Don) Moar; his nieces and nephews; Jim, John, Julie, Tim, Kim, Jeannie, and Jerry; and many loving friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters: Wanda (Jack) Redmond and Kathy (Harold) Ferguson.

A Celebration of Life will be held with his dear friends.
