The Progress
A large crowd of area residents gathered at the early hour of 7:45 on Saturday morning, May 13, for the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the new Tractor Supply Company stsore located at 1310 W. Pioneer Blvd, just west of the Mesquite Ford dealership.
Store manager Mark Slingerland gave some remarks just before cutting the ribbon. “Tractor Supply Company is a national farming store that has been around for 80 years,” he said. “If we don’t have what you need, we can probably get it.”
Slingerland comes to Mesquite from Pahrump where he managed the Tractor Supply Store there.
Flyers with coupons were handed out as grand opening attendees filed into the store.
Two excited shoppers Elda Briscoe and Chris Pareda of Scenic, Arizona, were excited to be there to enter this long-anticipated new store.
“It is a nice store with a variety of top-notch animal feed,” said Briscoe. “We keep animals and this is is something that is needed here.”
Slingerland was happy with the turn out. He stood at the door, with a smile welcoming those who entered and handing out Tractor Supply baseball caps.
“This store has a variety of merchandise,” Slingerland said. “From clothing to power tools, yard equipment, pet supplies, animal food, candy and household plumbing equipment, all under one roof.”
Large farming equipment is ordered online at a place that Tractor Supply employees lovingly call “the Stockyard.”
“I am here to support our local businesses and the Chamber of Commerce,” said attendee, Leesa Myers. “We really need more stores like this in this town.”
Attendee, Jeff Powell said, “This store makes a nice addition to our community and they have a great selection.”
