The town of Bunkerville is celebrating with a Grand Re-opening of its Thomas Dudley Leavitt Sr. Memorial Park on Thursday evening, June 15 beginning at 3:30 pm. The park, located at 200 W Virgin Street has been under renovation over the past several months and is now ready for a town party to celebrate the improvements.

New at the park is a paved meandering walking trail, improved landscaping and design, an added pavilion, new playground equipment with shade structures and more.

Bunkerville Town Advisory Board (BTAB) member Brian Haviland said that he was pleased with the new park improvements provided by Clark County.
“The county staff were very responsive to our wishes,” Haviland said. “We actually helped design it. I sat down with them and gave input while we drew it out. It was fun to see it all come together and see it now all finished.”

The BTAB has been working to get funding and oversee the design on the park for about five years now, with the help of County Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick, Haviland said.
Kirkpatrick and her staff is actually throwing the party for the Bunkerville community this week.

In addition to highlighting the park improvements, Kirkpatrick will be presenting her annual “Bunkerville’s Best” awards which specifically recognizes town residents who have made significant contributions of service to the Bunkerville community. It is the second year that these awards will be presented.

Plenty of food and drinks will be served to the crowd. All are invited.
