William ‘Bill’ Weed

William Boerum “Bill” Weed, age 91, died Wednesday, September 6, 2023 in La Canada, California. He was born July 27, 1932 in Simsbury, Connecticut to William Boerum Sr. and Mattie Paine Weed. On June 16, 1956 he married Alberta Ruth Berry in Escondido, California. She preceded him in death on December 5, 2019.

Bill spent his first 15 years in Connecticut before his family relocated to Arvada, Colorado. He entered the US Navy during the Korean War serving for four years. He and his brother moved to Escondido, CA and lived next door to two sisters with the last name Berry. The Weeds invaded the Berry Patch as two brothers married two sisters.

Always an outdoorsman, Bill moved his young family into the mountain wilderness of British Columbia where he worked in Forestry, at a sawmill and as a cowboy. After several years living in the cabin built by his own hands, they moved back to civilization to educate their children. After a short time in Arizona and Las Vegas, he accepted a job in the Clark County Building Department working in the Overton office as an inspector and plans checker. He was respected and trusted.

He loved serving the Lord and to observe godly matters. He helped to grow the Calvary Church in Mesquite. His last year was spent with family in Southern California.

Survivors include his daughter, Rosemarie (Colin) Cato of La Canada, CA; son, Daniel (Cara) of Johnstown, CO; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one brother, Fred (Ruthie) of Cottonwood, AZ. He was preceded in death by two sisters and one granddaughter.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, November 5, 2023 at 12 noon at the Calvary Chapel, 1646 W. Pioneer Blvd., Mesquite, NV 89034. Inurnment will take place Monday, November 6, 2023 in the Pioneer Hill Memorial Cemetery in Overton, as his ashes will be buried next to his wife, Ruth.
