Festival of Trees Three Day Event Begins Thursday

By LAURA ROBISON

The Progress

The Old Logandale School will host this year’s annual Festival of Trees this weekend, November 16-18. Thursday and Friday the festival will be open from 3-7 p.m.. Saturday will be all day running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“What began as a small event, has grown into this wonderful three-day festival,” said Robin Maughan, Executive Director of the Old Logandale School Histrical and Cultural Society (OLSHACS).

This festival is a fundraiser for OLSHACS in its mission to operate and maintain the Old Logandale School building as a public space. Individuals and businesses donate decorated trees, wreaths and decor to display at the festival. During the festival, a silent auction is held to purchase these trees and other decor, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to OLSHACS.

There are also plenty of other activites and entertainment planned for all three days, including singers, dancers, tumblers and musicians; drawings for adults and children, story time, a food truck, and vendors. Of course Jolly Old Saint Nicholas himself will make appearances at the festival on both Friday and Saturday (See complete festival schedule on page 2A).

New this year will be a story walk, ‘Twas The Night before Christmas, with all the illustrations and paintings being done by local artists.
“We try to add new things to the Festival to change it up a bit and make it more exciting,” Maughan said.

The Old Logandale School is located at 3011 N. Moapa Valley Blvd., in Logandale. To donate holiday items for the auction, or for more information please call 702-398-7272.
