This edition marks the 20th year of The Progress’ annual Moapa Valley Tour of Lights. Looking back over two decades, we were amazed how much has changed in the community during that time.
Once again, we have enjoyed a leisurely evening or two driging through Moapa Valley seeking notable home Christmas light displays to highlight here in our pages. One thing was clear, the spirit of Christmas cheer continues to burn bright out there in the neighborhoods of our little town.
As we do every year, we point out that this annual feature in not meant to be a contest with champions and award winners; even though some folks always seem to see it that way. Rather it is to encourage our readers to spend a little family time, get out of the house and drive through the community to enjoy what t heir fellow residents have done to decorate for the holiday.
We have tried to spread our coverage as much as possible. We have sought areas of the community that migh be less
trodden, while not neglecting homes along the main highway and well-travelled streets. In any case, the choices depicted here will get you into the neighborthoods where you are likely to see a lot more displays that we may not have room to publish. So take your time and explore. It should be a restful experience full of childlike wonder.
Once again, the few photos that we are able to publish here aren’t meant to be grand prize winners. Ideally, they are just a few of our own favorites. But more realistically, given the challenges of night
time photography, they may just be the photos that turned out the best.
We hope that you, our readers, enjoy your own Tour of Lights as much as we enjoyed ours.
Merry Christmas!
