The Progress
It was a fun day at the Casablanca Ribfest way back in September. The Mesquite Fire & Rescue beat out the Mesquite Police Department in the watermelon-eating contest.
The winning team got to choose a charity for the host, Mesquite Gaming, to donate its promised $1,000 gift on their behalf to the organization.
That September promise became a reality on Wednesday morning, Dec. 13, as Mesquite Gaming Assistant General manager Christian Adderson presented a check to local Salvation Army Director Bill Ennis. The donation was, of course, made on behalf of the Mesquite Fire & Rescue Department.
Fire Department personnel were proudly present with two fire trucks parked at the valet entrance to the Casablanca Resort & Casino.
“It is always a pleasure for us to find ways to support the community and our first responders,” Adderson said.
“We have more people in need this year than ever,” Ennis remarked. “We appreciate everything this community does to help us fulfill the need.”
