The Progress
Love and Politics made fun bedfellows at the Mesquite Republican Women’s Valentines Day meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at the Veterans Center. The meeting centered around communications consultant Chuck Muth as the featured speaker and political Game Show Host using attendee couples as contestants.
There was a full house of attendees enjoying snacks and wine. Members brought their sweeties with them, to enjoy the Valentine’s Day celebration.
Muth, who is president of the Citizens Outreach Foundation, an Author, and a “campaign doctor,” gave a short, talk on political campaigns. He emphasized how important the 2024 election is to the American people and especially for Nevadans to get equal representation in the state government.
“We have enough registered Republicans to win elections,” Muth said. “Getting them out to vote is our problem. We need to focus on voter turnout.”
The real highlight of the evening came when Muth switched hats and became a game show host for the “political newlywed game.” A knock off of the old TV Newlywed Game, this Love & Politics game was the creation of Annie Black and Muth.
Three couples were chosen from the audience were contestants. First the men left the room while the women answered questions. Those were then compared to the answers their partner gave when returning to the room. Then the women left while the men answered.
Nearly all of the questions were political in nature. Most had multiple choice answers.
The game proved to be just as funny as the old newlywed game. The room was filled with laughter and smiling faces.
The winning couple was Dee and Ron Shackelford with the most answers that matched. As a reward for their embarrassing moments, they received a small trophy and Danielle’s Chocolate and popcorn.
Attendee Tom Brook said, “This meeting was a lot of fun. We met new people here that represent the heart of the American people.”
Zarubin exclaimed “This was a wonderful meeting filled with good information and great fellowship opportunities.
