The Progress
Preparations have been underway at VVHS for the last few weeks to get ready for National FFA Week. During this event, FFA chapters across America organize community activities, celebrations, and other festivities dedicated to raising awareness about FFA and the agricultural community.
National FFA Week runs this week from Feb. 17-24. During the week, the Virgin Valley chapter is planning for students to participate in various country-themed dress-up days. There will also be a Kiss a Pig contest where students raise money to decide which VVHS teacher or staff member will kiss a living and breathing pig. The VVHS teacher or staff member with the most money raised in their name will kiss the pig in front of the student body.
On Saturday, community members can compete in a 5k color run which starts at 11 a.m. with registration at 10 a.m.
Following that, there will be line dancing and a cornhole tournament with a first-place prize of two sets of cornhole boards.
Students and community members can sign up using a QR code found on the VVHS’s FFA Instagram page @vvhsffa.
“I’m beyond excited for National FFA Week!” said the chapter’s social media reporter Addison Tedford. “Our officers and other Ag students have worked really hard trying to prepare for FFA week.
This year we have put together many events where students and community members can both participate. I’m truly excited to celebrate agriculture and get the community involved!”
