The Virgin Valley High School cheer team celebrated the conclusion of its season with its annual cheer review. This is a night where they perform all of their routines from the season and celebrate their accomplishments.

The theme of the review was 24K Magic so the team’s first routine was titled “24K Magic,” an upbeat routine choreographed by Ashton Shumway that opened up the review perfectly.

The week before the review, the cheer team had worked with young kids to train a “mini cheer team.” This group had three age divisions: 3-5 year olds, 6-9 year olds, and 10-12 year olds. Each of these groups performed a cheer and a dance at the review.

One stunt routine stuck out in the evening’s performance was done by Jasmine Aguilar, Lluvia Pascaio, Camila Lopez, and Emma Ruvalcaba. This routine showed many different stunts that the team had practiced throughout the year. The crowd was enthralled by the impressive stunts that these girls performed.

In between performances Cheer coach Ashley Barnum, spotlighted each of the team’s eight seniors. She talked about each girl’s strengths, personalities, and what they were going to do after high school.

One of the seniors, Idabel Estrada, when asked about her experience with cheer said, “As a first year cheerleader and it being my senior year, I had no idea what to expect for cheer review. After having 6 hour practices this week and seeing all the cheer moms set up and work so hard for us while we were practicing, all I can say is they went above and beyond for us!”

Estrada said that the experience turned out to be “way more than I expected!”
“Knowing that all those people were here to see us felt amazing” she said. “Going out there and performing on our night was the most precious feeling ever!”

After the team had performed all their routines, their escorts performed. This was not as clean and precise as a normal cheer routine, but it certainly was fun. The boys did dances and even some stunts.

Lastly, the cheerleaders and their escorts performed a waltz choreographed by Anna Bullock. This dance was an impressive number that spotlighted each individual and helped the girls feel special on their own night.

“It was such a beautiful night to celebrate these girls’ hard work!” Coach Barnum said. “They work hard all year to support every other sport and last night was their night to feel that for themselves! I’m so proud of these girls and grateful for all those who put in so much work to make their night so beautiful! What a perfect end to an amazing season!”
