A fun filled Easter-themed Field Day has been planned at the West Field of the Mesquite Recreation Center on Saturday, March 23 at 2:30pm. The event aims to bring together the generations with local kids, parents and the seniors engaging together in some old0fashion Easter egg-related competitions. Everyone is invited.
The event is a cooperative effort between the Salvation Amy, Mesa Valley Estates and the Mesquite Department of Athletics & Leisure Services. The fun is expected to last about an hour and a half.
Liz Beliaj, Director of Enrichment at Mesa Valley Estates said that the event promises to be a fun outing, both for the kids to get exercise and for Mesa Valley Estates residence to enjoy.
“Our residents will be handing out the ribbons and medals, candy and toys,” Beliaj said. “And everyone will leave with something.”
Star Flores, the Interim Director of the Salvation Army, reported that many relays and races for the kids will be going on at the event.
The idea to join both the older and younger in this activity was Flores idea. “I want to keep our small-town feel where everyone is involved in community events,” Flores said. “We wanted the kids to have fond memories of their childhood to look back on.”
