The Ear: Hotel California brings beautiful melodies

By JIM MARTY

The Progress

Eagle’s tribute band Hotel California was the featured concert on Saturday night at the Clark County Fair.

I spent a blue-sky April spring day in Logandale at the Clark County Fair and Rodeo last Saturday. It was my first time attending this event.

The size of the crowd was impresive. The food was in abundance. And the rodeo was first class.
The last event of the day was on the Plaza Stage with a concert by Hotel California-A Salute to the Eagles.

They are a top-rated tribute band from Southern California. Their niche is to reproduce the multi-platinum songs of The Eagles respectfully and accurately. They also add arrangements of their own to Eagle’s classics.

I was surprised how good the sound was in the big tent. The band had, what appeared to be, top notch instruments including an electric violin and a baby grand piano.
Hotel California is said to be the longest running Eagles tribute band around.

The set opener was “Take it Easy” followed by “Witchy omen,” “Victim of Love” and “Already Gone.”
One of the highlights for me was a blue grass version of “Seven Bridges Road” which included solos on the electric violin and pedal steel guitar along with beautiful harmonies.

The five-piece band is made up of great musicians. I would see them again.

Other songs in the set were “Tequila Sunrise,” “Peaceful Easy Feeling” and “Life in the Fast Lane.”
All in all, it was a great day at the Clark County Fair and Rodeo.

  1. Hey, Jim ~ didn’t get the chance to meet you, but I’m the dude in the picture! My name is Scott Barritt, and I’m so privileged to play bass and sing with this awesome band; representing a legendary, long-standing American Musical institution, and recognizing the men and women who’ve served this country to keep it FREE! Thanks for the awesome review, and hope to see you again somewhere in the long run ~~~
