Eureka announces $100 million remodel, development

Rendering shows plans for the new exterior of the Eureka Casino in Mesquite which will be part of the first phase of a $100 million re-investment into the resort property.

The Eureka Casino is commemorating 25 years of business in Mesquite by rolling out major plans for renovation and development at its Mesquite resort property.

Initially, the company is planning a $40 million first phase for the current resort, according to a statement released by Eureka last week. This phase will be centered around a comprehensive casino and restaurant remodel. It will also include a complete exterior update for the casino and a full hotel remodel.

“This is an investment in guest experience,” said Eureka CEO Andre Carrier. “Eureka is blessed to have many longtime guests who call us home. For them, we’ll be sure to not change the essence of the Eureka experience. These improvements will make visiting Eureka even more fun and enjoyable.”

The project kicked off with the expansion and remodeling of Eureka’s signature steakhouse, Gregory’s Mesquite Grill, which is currently underway.

In addition, the company has previously completed the remodeling of a ballroom that currently accommodates up to 150 guests and is designed for various private functions from weddings to community events.

Upcoming in the first phase will be a comprehensive remodel of the hotel and an expansion and renovation of the entire casino floor and restaurant outlets.

But this first phase will only be a portion of a much larger $100 million property-wide investment for the resort.

For the larger, and longer-term, portion of the project, the company has set its sights on the 35 acres of undeveloped land atop Eureka’s famous red mesa, just northwest of the casino.
This land is proposed to be developed as resort condominiums and apartments.

According to the press release, the company plans to build a portion of this project itself, particularly certain workforce housing components that are built into the plans.

The company also hopes to work in a joint venture with outside development partners to build a complex of luxury residential housing, offering resort amenities a walkable distance to Eureka and hotel facilities, the statement reads.

“We think this site is among the most beautiful in Mesquite,” said Eureka founder and chairman Greg Lee of the red mesa property. “Sensational views of our mountains and golf courses, and the convenience of being close to Eureka’s resort facilities, will make it a tremendous place to live.”

In the release, Lee comments on the 25 years of history that the resort has with the city of Mesquite. “Mesquite has grown and changed a lot since my parents and I built this building,” he said. “We want Eureka to grow and change with it from an architectural and design perspective. I believe Mesquite is one of the top residential communities in the Southwest and I want to be sure Eureka looks like and captivates the greatness and authenticity of this community.”

Eureka Casinos is a multigenerational family business and America’s only 100 percent employee-owned casino company. This unique structure allows the company to think about the business over a long term perspective.

“Our Eureka Way calls us to consistently look for ways to improve,” said Carrier. “The constant thread is that we are made in Mesquite. Our company was built here in this red dirt. Our company and its employee-owners are here to serve this community for decades to come. Our commitment to the long term will always be to continue to get better for our guests, our community, and our employee-owners.”
