Tracey Lynn Thornton

Tracey Lynn Thornton, 70, was reunited with her sweetheart on April 15, 2024. She was born on January 28, 1954 in Las Vegas, NV, to George Burton Whitney and Shirley Mae McClure.

Tracey grew up in Las Vegas, along with one brother, Mac, graduating from Valley High School in 1972. With a beauty queen mother, Tracey was crowned Miss Nevada in 1972.

Tracey furthered her education at University of Nevada, Reno, graduating in 1974. She met the love of her life, Cliff, when she was 16 years old and they were married July 5, 1975 in Las Vegas, NV.

With a race boat enthusiast father, Tracey grew up competitive water skiing and winning many championships. A woman of many talents, from being a hair stylist to a real estate agent, Tracey’s proudest accomplishment was her family. Wanting to raise her children: Brandon, Aaron, & Ashley in a small town, her and Cliff moved to Overton in 1990.

The ranch was known for how beautiful and green the grounds were kept, all at the hands of Tracey. She was known for being a hard-working, strong woman. She loved all animals, especially horses, and barrel racing. When she wasn’t working on the ranch, riding horses, or selling real estate, Tracey loved watching her grandkids grow. Spending time with them, along with her kids, was her favorite thing to do.

Tracey is survived by her children: Aaron (Stephanie) Thornton, and Ashley (Gabe) Torres; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Thornton; grandchildren: Bailey, Austin, Bubba, and Sawyer; brother, Mac (Deanna) Whitney; niece, Nichole Whitney; and nephew, Colton Whitney.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Thornton; son, Brandon Thornton; parents, George and Shirley Whitney; and niece, Breanna Whitney.

A viewing will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Hinckley Chapel, 1505 Hinckley Ave., Logandale, NV 89021, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The interment will follow at the Pioneer Hill Memorial Cemetery, Overton, NV.
