Horace Nathaniel Kerman, Jr.

Horace Nathaniel Kerman Jr., age 85, died April 30, 2024, in Logandale, NV. He was born November 2, 1938 in Wilson, North Carolina to Horace N. Kerman and Lillian McCullough Kerman.

Horace entered the U.S. Air Force just after graduating from high school in Wilson, NC. He was trained as a single engine jet aircraft mechanic and assigned to Nellis AFB, NV. While serving a tour with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, he married Patricia Ann Page in Wilson, NC.

During the Cuban missile crisis, he was transferred to Germany and later to Thailand during the Vietnam War. Receiving an Honorable Discharge, he and Patricia started a home in Las Vegas.
Horace began working for the U.S. Postal Service in Las Vegas in the maintenance craft. Patricia died suddenly in 1991. Their children, Penny and James, were the backbone of the family for quite a while.

Horace married Peggy Beardin at First Presbyterian Church on February 14, 1993. He retired from the Postal Service in January 1994.

Peggy and Horace moved to Overton, NV in late 1995, attending Calvary Community Church most of that time. Horace’s hobbies kept him busy as well as making new friends and gaining a larger family.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy of Overton; one son and one daughter: James (Melissa) Kerman of Henderson, NV, and Penny (Mark) Harris of Overton, NV; two step-children: Monte (Cindy) Beardin and Leanne (John) Cole; eleven grandchildren; one great grandson; and one sister, Brenda Herman of Winter Haven, FL.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Calvary Community Church at a later date.

  1. I loved Horace the moment I met him. He was a kind, loving, exceptional man who was taken from his family far too soon. He made friends everywhere he was and always was so happy. His smile would feel like he was hugging you. Just being around him made you feel so loved. This world doesn’t make sense to have taken such a great man away in such a horrible manner. God bless his family. Prayers and thoughts to those who were lucky enough to know him. He will be missed.

So sorry for your tragic loss. I am praying for Horace and his entire family.
May they all be at peace knowing Horace is in God’s arms..

  3. I was always amazed at how ingenious Horace could repair or invent ways to fix anything!
As his step son for 31 years I witnessed his consistent love for my mom. He was a gift from God to her, always being very patient and kind to her. I loved how he never seemed to let life’s struggles get him down. He was a good example to me of being light hearted and joyful. This world was more kind with Horace in it and it is a tragedy that we, and my mom, now have to live without him. He has left an indelible impression on me and many he had contact with. He was a good man!
