The Rotary Club of Mesquite NV Noon and the Mesquite NV Sunrise Rotary Club are working on a merger between the two local clubs! The new Club will be named “Rotary Club of Mesquite NV.”

The original charter will stay in effect, which dates back to 1997. What’s more the clubs will continue in their mission of service to Mesquite, Beaver Dam, and the surrounding areas.

The new club meets each Wednesday at 5:30 pm at the Mesquite Library. But the official completion of the merger takes place on July 1 at the beginning of the new fiscal year.
Club members will continue to practice “Service above Self” by giving back to their community through service and philanthropy in support of local and international projects.

Recently, the clubs sent Virgin Valley High School students to Rotary Youth Leadership Camp (RYLA).
The clubs also provided donations to the Mesquite STEAM Center for its drone program and Lego table.

The clubs host a monthly used book sale at the College of Southern Nevada. All of the funds from the sales go directly to the Mesquite Reads Program in partnership with the Eureka Community Initiative.

“Rotary members take action to make communities better,” said Deb Parsley, the club President. “They contribute their time, energy, and passion to carry out meaningful and sustainable projects that promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, help mothers and children, support education, grow local economies, and protect the environment.”

The top priority of Rotary International has long been the global eradication of polio. Rotary launched its polio immunization program, PolioPlus, in 1985 and, in 1988, became a leading partner in the Polio Eradication Initiative.

The local club currently has 24 members. Starting July 1, the officers for the newly merged club will include Parsley as President, Melissa Engvil as Secretary, Darlene Montague as Treasurer, Joe Sologub as Sgt. at Arms, Jake Noll as Past President, Chantile McAllister as PR, and Sharon Rae heading the Guest Speaker Committee.

Local residents and business owners looking for opportunities to grow and connect with others in the community are welcome to join the Rotary Club.
“Our membership recruitment is ongoing, and we want you to be part of it!” Parsley said.

Members of the public can attend a club meeting to see how they can make an impact. For more information about the Rotary Club of Mesquite, call 725-253-0288.
