The annual Sherm Bennett Memorial Desert Winds Softball Tournament will be held this weekend at Virgin Valley High School.
Both Virgin Valley and Moapa Valley will participate in the eight-team tournament with all games being held Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Bulldog Diamond on the VVHS campus.
Pool play will begin on Thursday and also Friday morning and afternoon. After pool play, teams will be slotted into bracket play which starts Friday evening and ends on Saturday.
Virgin Valley, which won the tournament a year ago, will open pool play on Thursday at 9 a.m. against Lowry of Winnemucca. The Lady Bulldogs will play two more pool contests on Friday at 7 a.m. against Lincoln County of Panaca and at 12:45 p.m. against Spring Valley of Las Vegas.
Moapa Valley will play twice Thursday in pool play. The Lady Pirates face Elko at 10:45 a.m. and Pahrump Valley at 2 p.m. Friday, the Lady Pirates will take on Legacy of North Las Vegas at 10:30 a.m.
Bracket play begins Friday at 3:45 p.m. with games to follow at 5:30 p.m., 7:15 p.m. and 9 p.m.
Saturday’s schedule will begin at 9 a.m. with the seventh-place game followed by the fifth-place game at 10:45 a.m. and the third-place game at 12:30 p.m.
The championship contest is scheduled for 2:15 p.m.
