The Moapa Valley High School tennis teams will be dedicating and officially naming the MVHS tennis courts in a ceremony to be held on Monday, September 20. The new courts will be named the Jace Davis Memorial Tennis Courts in honor of former Moapa Valley High School student and tennis player, Jace Edwards Davis who graduated in 2007.
Davis passed away in January while serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Romania Bucharest Mission.
During his time at Moapa Valley High School, Davis excelled as a member of the boys tennis team. He and his four year tennis partner, Travis Rust, remained undefeated during their junior and senior years and competed in the final rounds of regional playoffs, capturing 4th place in their senior year.
“Jace was well known for his famous lob, and the duo as “scrappers” in the tennis circuit, because they went for everything,” said Travis Griffiths, Jace’s former coach who will speak at the memorial.
The MVHS Tennis team is privileged to be honoring a player whose memory of dedication and devotion to a sport was experienced by so many.
All are welcome and encouraged to attend the dedication and memorial ceremony on September 20, 2010 at 6 pm. Light refreshments will also be served.
