Elko 28 Sparks 6

Elko lost one of the big three running backs to a knee injury for the season. Schroeder had 558 yards and 4 touchdowns. Elko has a very strong ground game. He was the 5th leading rusher in the North. Elko lead 7-0 at half. Trevor Johnson: 26 carries, 178 yards. Ty Wilson: 11 carries, 126 yards. Each had a touchdown.

Spring Creek 37 Dayton 15

Logan Irvin rushed for 410 yards on 44 carries. Spring Creek had 53 plays on offense. Irvin had five touchdowns. Touchdown runs 71, 4, 14, 59 and 50. The Spartans have own 4 in a row and have a playoff spot.

Fernley 35 South Tahoe 13

Fernley’s Bradley went 10-14, 212 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Tahoe’s Nesbitt went 12-25,128 yards, 1 touchdown, and 3 interceptions.

Fernley rushed the ball 32 times for 218 and 2 touchdowns.

South Tahoe rushed the ball 39 times for 146 and 1 touchdown.

Lowry 16 Truckee 22

In Truckee, Lowry was in a must win game if they are going to host a first round game in the playoffs. Lowry took an 8-7 lead after the first quarter. It was raining in Truckee making the traction and fielding of ball very difficult.

Truckee gave up a safety when the running back slipped in the end zone giving Lowry their first lead right after the 2nd quarter started. Lowry then scored again with 11.5 seconds to go in the half to take the lead when he hit their 6-6 tight end for the touchdown and the 2 point conversion. Half time score: Lowry 16, Truckee 14.

Colin Christen put Truckee back in the lead with a 14 yard touchdown. The score was 20-16 at the end of the 3rd period.

Lowry’s attempt ended with an intentional grounding, putting Truckee with the ball at the nine, and 2:30 left. Truckee then fumbled at the one yard line. Lowry needed to go 99 yards for the win.

Pollock, the Lowry quarterback trying to find a receiver stepped out of the back of the end zone for a safety. Score: Truckee 22-16.

Coronado 21 Virgin Valley 47

At Mesquite, the Dawgs beat 4A Coronado, who are now 2-5 on the season 47-21 in preparation for the 3A showdown for all the marbles next week at the Dawg Pound.

Urias threw for 3 touchdowns and ran for another defensively the Dawgs intercepted 8 passes and recovered 2 fumbles. The defense was lead by Kyler Hughes who picked off 3 passes, returning one for a touchdown. Virgin Valley’s final score came with a 20 point Dawg lead in the 4th when Urias hit Gleave on a 23 yard pass for the final 47-21.

Passing: Urias 14-22, 214 yards, 3 touchdowns; Cor Ianucci 15-24, 4 interceptions, 267 yards, 1 touchdown.

Rushing: Urias 10 for 51 yards, Gleave 8 for 24 yards. Bowler 10 for 9 yards, team 90 yards.
