Moapa Valley Progress
The Lady Pirates travelled to Shadow Ridge High School last week and played the 7-12 Mustangs where the Pirates went down to defeat 45-31.
The Pirates trailed 7-8 after the first quarter. Then they came apart in the 2nd quarter allowing Shadow Ridge to score 20 while scoring only 7 of their own.
Free throw shooting continues to be a problem as Moapa shot 13-25 from the line. The Mustangs shot 7-16 from the line.
Perez led Shadow Ridge with 14 points. Chanel Lacroix led Moapa with 13.
The Lady Pirates are now 5-17 and have a 6 game losing streak. They will try to end it this week against Enterprise, Utah or Virgin Valley on Friday. Both are home games.
As the season is close to an end, the playoffs are looming near. The tournament will be played at Durango High School, the same place they were last year, and will start in two weeks. The 2nd and 3rd seeds will play on Thursday night with the winner playing the top seed, which is Boulder right now, on the following Saturday night.
The league winner will travel to Reno for the state championship tournament.
