Moapa Track Hosts Richard Lewis Invitational

Moapa Valley hosted the annual Richard Lewis Invitational on Friday afternoon. There were nineteen schools that participated in the meet.

Faith Lutheran came away with the boy’s team title at 126 points. Las Vegas placed second in the boy’s with 81 points. Silverado placed third with 79 points Green Valley finishing fourth with 75 points. Moapa Valley finished in tenth place with 26 points.

Josh Lee provided the excitement for Moapa Valley as he won the pole vault by clearing 14’ 3.25” setting a new Richard Lewis record. Lee is ranked third in the state behind Keaton Daniel and his 15’4” from Coronado and Ian Fralick who cleared 14’6” from Reno. Lee is the top ranked vaulter in the 3A.

The Pirates 4X200 relay team finished eighth with a time of 1:37.89. They also finished third in the 4X800 relay with a time of 8:55.19. That team consisted with Preston Humes, Grady Call, Bryton Dorsey and Jerrick Stastny.

Jessie Robison finished sixth in the shot-put with a throw of 41-10. Josh Leavitt finished seventh in the discus with a toss of 110-5. Tristan Lehman finished fifth in the long jump with a leap of 19-07.

On the girls side Green Valley won the meet with 106 points. Faith Lutheran finished second with 92.5 points. Shadow Ridge finished third with 83 points and Silverado finished fifth with 63 points. Moapa Valley finished sixth with 57 points.

Alexis Schraft finished in second place in the 400 meters with a time of 1:03.38 while Hanna Williams finished eighth with a time of 1:06.49.

Ashlyn Western finished fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:31.16, third in the 1600 meters with a time of 4:47.36.

Natalie Mills finished third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.22 and first in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 48.71.

The 4X100 relay team placed eighth with a time of 56.39. That team consisted of Hannah Watson, Peyton Schraft, Kyla Bradford and Hailey Williams.

The 4X400 relay team placed third with a time of 4:27.07. That team consisted of Erika Baldwin, Bailey Bunker, Natalie Mills and Alexis Schraft.

The 4X880 relay team also placed third with a time of 10:52.88. That team consisted of Ashlyn Western, Andi Hilstead, Shelby Olsen and Bailey Bunker.

Madyson Whitney placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 84-06.
Hanna Watson finished third in the pole vault with a vault of 8’6”.

This week the Pirates will travel Tuesday to Cheyenne for a midweek meet.
