3A Baseball – South
Boulder City
On April 9, Virgin Valley travelled to Boulder City and nearly came home with a win over the state champion. The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third. Boulder City scored once in the bottom of the third before both teams were held scoreless for the next three innings.
Virgin Valley served up an error in the bottom of the seventh allowing Chafton Temple to score and tie the game. Rhett Armstrong got just the third hit of the game for the Eagles scoring the game winning RBI. Boulder City had only three hits but took advantage of three Bulldog errors to get the win.
At SECTA on Wednesday Boulder City beat the Roadrunners 11-7 as Temple hit two doubles driving in three RBI’s and Jimmy Dunagan drove in a run and scored with a double and a triple to help lead the Eagles to a 3-0 league record.

Del Sol
On Wednesday the Dragons travelled to Virgin Valley and lost a close one 6-5. Del Sol was tied with the Dawgs 5-5 headed into the bottom of the sixth. Easton Jensen came to the plate with two outs and one in scoring position. He hit a single scoring Daxon Toone giving the Dawgs the win. Booker Wakefield drove home two RBI’s while Cade Anderson crossed the plate three times in the Bulldogs win.
Joshua Ortega was 3-3 from the plate for Del Sol while Brady Walton finished 2-4 with a double.
The Dragons ended the week on Friday at home against Chaparral. They were beaten in five innings 15-1. Chaparral scored three runs in the second inning then scored twelve runs in the top of the fourth.
Cannon Greene finished the game for Chaparral with three hits one of which was a double, as he scored three RBI’s and crossed the plate twice. James Cobian had four hits in five at bats with a double scoring three rimes and driving in three RBI’s.
Del Sol couldn’t get a hit as Chaparral pitched two pitchers for two innings apiece for the no hitter. Bryan Gonzalo started the game while Christian Calzada ended the game.

Chaparral
The Cowboys started the week hosting SECTA coming away with a 15-0 win over the Roadrunners in four innings. SECTA allowed ten walks and five hits to the Cowboys. Chaparral was led by Christian Calzada who scored a run and drove in three RBI’s. Talon Greene was walked three times scoring all three times. SECTA got only one hit in the game, Sean Jones got the single.

SECTA
The Roadrunners finished last week with a win at Virgin Valley 10-9. They scored four runs in the sixth inning to take an 8-6 lead headed into the bottom of the sixth. Virgin Valley scored three times for a one run lead and headed into the ninth. SECTA scored the go ahead when Jason Collingbourne hit a two-run homerun with two out for the win. Virgin Valley’s Jayden Perkins was 3-4 with a double finishing with three RBI’s.
Both teams are 1-2 in league play.
Sunrise standings: Boulder City 3-0, Chaparral 3-0, Moapa Valley 1-2, Tech 1-2, Virgin Valley 1-2 and Del Sol 0-3.

Sunset standings: Desert Pines 2-1, Mojave 2-1, Pahrump Valley 2-1, Western 2-1, Sunrise Mountain 1-2 and Cheyenne 0-3.

Northern 3A standings: Elko 11-1, Fallon 11-2, Truckee 8-4, South Tahoe 7-7, Lowry 7-8, Fernley 5-8, Dayton 6-10, Spring Creek 6-10 and Sparks 0-11.

3A Softball – South
Boulder City
The Eagles were 2-0 last week.
Their first win came against Virgin Valley at Boulder City 14-8. The Eagles scored nine times before the Dawgs could get on the scoreboard.
Virgin Valley scored three runs in the top half of the third to cut the Eagle lead but they could not stop the Eagles.
Boulder City scored three in the bottom half of the third. Virgin Valley would get two runs in the fourth, a single run in the fifth then two more runs in the sixth. Boulder City added runs in the fourth and fifth for the final.
Kari Wakefield scored two RBI’s and crossed the plate two times going 3-4 from the plate with a double to lead the Bulldogs.
On Wednesday the Eagles beat SECTA in three innings 15-0. The Eagles started the game with 10 runs in the first inning then added two in the second and three in the third. Lily Osman was 3-3 with four RBI’s and two doubles. The Eagle pitching allowed just two hits in the game.

Chaparral
The Cowboys started with a win over SECTA last week and ended with a win over Del Sol. On Monday the Cowboys started the game giving the Roadrunners a two-run head start in the top of the first inning. Chaparral then scored eleven runs in the bottom half and added three more in the bottom of the fifth to end the game with a walk off 14-4 victory.
On Friday, the Cowboys beat the Del Sol Dragons 10-3. They started the game with a three run first, second and a one run third for a 7-0 lead. Del Sol scored their three runs in the bottom of the sixth before Chaparral finished the game with three runs of their own for the final. Fiona Toggar was 3-4 with two doubles and four RBI’s to lead the Cowboys.

Del Sol
The second game of the week for the Dragons was a 15-5 win over Virgin Valley in Mesquite. The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when the Dragons jumped out to a 5-0 lead. They added a couple of more runs in the fifth just before Virgin Valley scored three runs to cut the Dragon lead to 7-3. Del Sol responded with eight runs to bury the Dawgs and end the game following the sixth.

Sunrise standings: Moapa Valley 3-0, Boulder City 2-1, Chaparral 2-1, Del Sol 1-2, Virgin Valley 1-2 and Vo-Tech 0-3.

Sunset standings: Pahrump Valley 3-0, Cheyenne 2-1, Mojave 2-1, Sunrise Mountain 1-2, Western 1-2 and Desert Pines 0-3.

Northern 3A standings: Lowry 13-1, Fernley 11-1, Fallon 9-1, Dayton 10-6, Elko 7-6, Spring Creek 3-10, South Tahoe 2-11, Truckee 1-11 and Sparks 0-9.
