Striped bass are taking cut anchovies or sardines as well as shad imitating lures and swim baits. The Overton Arm, the Temple Bar area and the lower Boulder Basin are all giving up stripers. There are some reports of early morning top-water action near Government Wash. The bite can be sporadic at times so anglers need to be patient.
Channel catfish are also on the prowl and can be caught on the bottom with a variety of commercial stink baits, night crawlers and shrimp.
Persistent anglers are catching largemouth and smallmouth bass, but they aren’t fighting to get into your live well. Crankbaits and plastics are catching the willing few.
