One of the greatest spring time sounds in all America is simply “PLAY BALL” and with that you know its baseball season again. Many youth in Moapa Valley have been waiting for that sound for nine months.
Last weekend the Moapa Valley Little league held tryouts at the Logandale Ballfields. Little leaguers of various ages, both boys and girls, showed up to show off their skills for the tryouts which will be used in the draft.
Hitting, fielding and running the bases were all graded in order to place players skills into perspective so they can be placed on a team as chosen by the coaches. The goal here is to make the teams as close to one another in ability level as possible.
When the season is finished there will be an all-star team who will be put together for competition in a tournament for the dream of participating in the Little League World Series. Not only do the local teams play against themselves, they will be travelling to Las Vegas to play some of the other teams in the region.
