Northern 3A
Standings:
Truckee 4-0, Elko 4-0, Spring Creek 4-0, South Tahoe 3-1, Fallon 2-2, Fernley 1-3, Sparks 1-3, Wooster 1-3, Lowry 0-4 and Dayton 0-4.

Fallon at South Tahoe
In South Tahoe last week the Vikings built a huge 32-0 lead against Fallon by early in the fourth quarter. The Vikings players might have thought it was the knockout blow.
But Fallon didn’t believe so. The Green Wave went on to score four touchdowns in the fourth quarter and came within an onside kick of scoring again and putting the game into overtime. But Fallon fell just short and the game ended with South Tahoe winning with a final score of 38-30.
South Tahoe scored their first two touchdowns in the second quarter An interception thrown by Fallon’s starting quarterback Christian Nemeth led to Noah Jackson’s 13 yard run and touchdown for a 25-0 lead with 4:52 left in the third quarter. Then South Tahoe’s Bernal ran into the endzone early in the fourth for the 32-0 advantage.
Fallon switched to back up quarterback Conner Nelson and Fallon scored their first touchdown to cut the lead to 32-8 after a 2 point conversion.
South Tahoe scored when Bernal scored again on a 44 yard run to extend the lead to 38-8 missing the extra point.

After the kickoff, Fallon’s Cade Vercellotti ran for a 69 yard touchdown. a successful two point conversion cut the lead again 38-16.
South Tahoe then fumbled at midfield giving the ball back to Fallon who ended the ensuing drive with a touchdown, cutting the lead to 38-22 with 5:38 to play in the game.
With 22 seconds left in the game Nelson found Brock Uptain open on a reverse pass that scored the final touchdown of the game. With the two point conversion Fallon was now within range. But the failed onside kick ended the game and gave the Green Wave their second loss.

Spring Creek at Sparks
Spring Creek came away with a 42-28 win over Sparks to remain undefeated at 4-0 in league play.
The Spartans had a 14-13 lead after the first quarter then extended the lead to 30-13 by half time with 2 more touchdowns. Two more scored in the third quarter for Spring Creek brought the reserves out in the fourth. Sparks scored once more.

Truckee at Dayton
The Wolverines turned this game into a blowout early as they beat the Dust Devils 63-0.
Truckee had 314 yards rushing and 72 yards passing. Truckee runs their record to 4-0 while Dayton remains winless at 0-4.

Lowry at Wooster
The Wooster Colts got a win over Lowry 41-26 at home.

Fernley at Elko
The Indians of Elko were trailing 17- 14 with 4:43 to play in last week’s game when Kyrin Allen intercepted a Fernley pass and returned it 15 yards for an Indians touchdown and 20-17 win.

Southern 3A
Standings Sunset: Pahrump Valley 3-1, Desert Pines 3-1, Cheyenne 1-3, Sunrise Mountain 1-3, Western 0-4, Mojave 0-4.

Standings Sunrise: Del Sol 3-1, Virgin Valley 3-1, Moapa Valley 2-2, Chaparral 2-2, Boulder City 1-3.

Chaparral at Pahrump
This game was a real head scratcher. The favored Chaparral Cowboys traveled to Pahrump and came away with a 28-21 loss to the Trojans.
Aaron Fuentas scored the first touchdown to give the Trojans a 7-0 first quarter lead. Chaparral would tie the game early in the second quarter when Devin Gaddy caught a 33 yard touchdown pass. Nico Velazquez gave the lead back to Pahrump when he recovered and returned a 42 yard fumble 9 minutes later giving the Trojans a 14-7 lead at half time.

The Cowboys tied the game in the third quarter when Gaddy caught another touchdown pass. The Cowboys would take the lead when Tyray Collins picked off a Parker Hart pass and returned it for a 21-14 score at the end of the third. But Jeremy Albertson blocked a Cowboy punt and returned it to tie the game at 21-21.
Fuentes finally finished a Trojan drive with 4:46 to play giving the Trojans the win.

Desert Pines at Liberty
Desert Pines got humbled on television last week as they were blown out by Liberty 41-14.
The game was close for the first quarter. Liberty held a 7-6 advantage. Then someone left the barn door open and the Patriots scored the next four touchdowns to build a 35-14 lead by the end of the third quarter.
Liberty, the 24th ranked team in the nation according to Maxpreps, rolled for 476 yards of total offense: 214 on the ground and 262 yards in the air on 25-37 passing. Desert Pines finished with 244 yards total offense with 148 yards rushing and 96 yards passing.

Cheyenne at Cimarron
Corwin Bush scored three touchdowns in this game to lead the Desert Shields to a 22-21 win over rival Cimarron last week.
Cameron Anderson scored the first touchdown of the game, returning a Cheyenne fumble 41 yards with 6:03 to play in the first quarter. The Spartans lead 6-0.
Cheyenne scored on their next possession when Bush ran for 3 yards. A failed 2 point conversion tied the game at 6-6.

Cheyenne scored when Bush caught a 57 catch a run pass from Matthew LaBonte at the end of the first quarter. The 2 point conversion counted for a 14-6 Desert Shields lead.
The Spartans scored the next 15 points. Gunner Stevenson scored on a 9 yard run. The Spartans then recorded a safety followed by Tyree Riley’s 4 yard touchdown run to give Cimarron a 21-14 lead at half time.
Bush scored with 4:06 to play in the game on a four yard touchdown run. He then followed with the game winning 2 point conversion.
Cheyenne finished with 249 yards total offense 91 yards rushing and 158 yards passing. Cimarron had 223 yards total offense all of it rushing

Canyon Springs at Sunrise Mtn
Sunrise Mountain dropped to 1-3 on the season after the Pioneers beat the Miners 33-27.
The Miners had a chance to win the game with 1:25 to play. They had to use their three timeouts on defense to save time on the clock getting the ball back at their 20 yard line.
But that game winning drive never materialized. Miners quarterback Stephen Wright threw an interception giving the Pioneers the win.
The Miners had their only lead at 7-6 midway through the second quarter when Wright ran 15 yards for a touchdown.

But 40 seconds later Lazarus Kyle caught a 90 yard catch and run pass giving the Pioneers the lead for good. Kyle scored again four and a half minutes later on a 5 yard pass.
The Miners would score the next two touchdowns. Xavier Kyles returned an 80 yard kick-off return to start the second half. Then he caught a 19 yard pass to tie the game at 20’s.
Jeremiah Jackson scored on a 30 yard pass reception and Burton ran a 16 yarder in the final seconds of the third quarter.

Western at Virgin Valley
The Bulldogs continued their assault on the lower half of the southern 3A with a 56-14 win over the Warriors. The three southern teams the Dawgs have played in the preseason have a record of 1-11.
The Bulldogs started the game Friday night with 26 points in the first quarter. The lead was 42-8 at half time. Jayden Perkins ran the ball 19 times for 158 yards and 5 touchdowns.
The Bulldogs will host Spring Valley this Friday night; a week before the Hammer game with the Pirates next week in Virgin Valley.

Boulder City at Valley
The Valley Vikings had a 21 game losing streak headed into the game with the Eagles last week. That ended when the Vikings beat Boulder City 34-21.
The Eagles lead 7-0 after a Dillion Viera 8 yard touchdown run with 2:53 to play in the first. Valley scored twice in the second quarter for a 14-0 lead at half time. David Smith scored as well as Iyen Medlock on a 1 yard run. Zach Trone returned the second half kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown and Boulder City tied the game at 14-14. Taylor Hatchel gave the Eagles a 21-0 14 lead with a 3 yard run. Justin Fox made it 21-14 with the extra point.
Valley then scored the next three touchdowns, two on big plays for the win.
Boulder City had 249 yards of total offense with 195 yards rushing and 54 passing. Valley had 270 yards of total offense with 130 yards rushing and 140 yards passing.
The Eagles will travel to Moapa Valley this Friday night for the first league game for both teams.

Rancho at Del Sol
It was homecoming night at Del Sol last Friday where they hosted the Rancho Rams and came away with a 48-8 win.
Del Sol took a 13-0 lead in the first quarter and extended it to 23-8 in the second. Jonathon Spearman caught a 15 yard pass from Flowers for the first touchdown and Taariq Flowers scored the second touchdown on a 7 yards run.
Rancho scored their only touchdown at the start of the second quarter when Johnathon Gunter caught a 14 yard touchdown from Noah Fuller.
Del Sol finished with 244 yards of total offense on the night holding the Rams to just 148 total yards.
