Pirate Track & Field Hosts Mid-week Meet

The Moapa Valley High School Track and Field teams hosted the final midweek meet on Wednesday, Apr., 5, when Las Vegas Hig School, Green Valley, Cheyenne and Pahranagat Valley came to the Pirate stadium to compete.
Las Vegas High School won the boys meet with 159 points. Green Valley placed second with 134 points, Moapa Valley placed third with 31 points while Cheyenne finished fourth with 21 points and Pahranagat Valley finished fifth with 18 points.

On the girl’s side, Green Valley took first with 139 points, Las Vegas was second with 99 points. Cheyenne finished third with 52 points. Moapa Valley finished fourth with 50 points and Pahranagat Valley fifth with 2 points.

Two Pirate girls finished in the top four of the 800 meters. Sophomore Ashlyn Western finished second in a time of 2:31.54, while freshman Andi Hillstead finished fourth with a time of 2:48.9.
Grady Call finished third in the 800 on the boys side with a time of 2:18.62.
Hillstead finished fourth in the 1600 meters with a time of 6:26.
In the 3200 meters Moapa Valley finished with three girls in the top four places. Shelby Olson won the event with a time of 13:09, Bailey Bunker was second with a time of 13:36 and Western finished fourth with a time of 13:53.
The 4X100 relay team for the girls finished second consisting of Luisa Thielemann, Erika Baldwin, Careesa Solis and Cambree Pulsipher with a time of 56.62.

The boys team finished second in their 4×100 consisting of Shawn Beckstrand, Tristin Lehman, William Uri and Greg Morrissey with a time of 47.81.
Hannah Williams, Baldwin, Solis and Pulsipher placed second in the 200-meter relay with a time of 1:57.9.
In the boys 200-meter relay Beckstrand, Lehman, Nick Sosa and Morrissey finished third with a time of 1:40.4.

The girls 4X400 meter relay finished second and third with a second team. The second place team consisted of Hannah and Hailey Williams, Natalie Mills and Ashlyn Western with a time of 4:56.92. The third place team consisted Andi Hillstead, Bailey Bunker, Daesy Parra and Phylene Marquez with a time of 5:12.49.
The Boys 4X800 relay had Moapa Valley finishing third with a time of 9:52.7. The team was Evan Conger, Grady Call, Bryton Dorsey and Jerrick Stastny.

The girls once again had two teams in the relay with the second place team of Mills, Western, Olson and Marquez finishing with a time of 10:59.9. The third place team of Hillstead, Bunker, Parra and Emma Thompson finished with a time of 11:35.9.
Josh Lee won the Pole Vault with a vault of 12-06.

This week on Friday, the Pirates will host the Grant Bushman Invitational with 22 teams entered. The field events will start at 2:30 and the running events will start at 3:00.
