Southern 3A – Sunrise
Desert Oasis at Chaparral
The Cowboys hosted a winless Desert Oasis Diamondback team and came away with a 28-7 win. Chaparral is now 5-1 heading into the first week of league play.
Trayvius Hodge finished the Cowboys first drive of the game with a 3-yard run. With the point after the Cowboys had a brief 7-0 lead.
Desert Oasis tied the game with 2:09 to play in the first quarter when Sylhauss Samumali caught a 39-yard pass from quarterback Cedric Allen.
TyRay Collins scored with just over 3 minutes to play in the third quarter for a 14-7 lead for the Cowboys. Sheilk Fofanah scored his first touchdown with a 30-yrd run at the 9:23 mark in the fourth quarter. He scored his second with 4:26 to play from 25-yards away.
Chaparral finished with 248 yards of total offense, all 248 rushing.

Boulder City at Virgin Valley
The Bulldogs used a huge second quarter to beat the Boulder City Eagles 36-14. The Dawgs scored four touchdowns in the second quarter to build a big lead then coasted to the win.
The only problem they had was kicking extra points or 2-point conversions. They didn’t convert any of them.
Virgin Valley quarterback Cade Anderson scored the first Bulldog touchdown with a 14-yard run midway through the first quarter. It was the only touchdown in the first quarter for either team.
The second quarter started with a 3-yard Jayden Perkins touchdown run. This was followed by Boulder City’s first touchdown: a 25-yard run by Vincent Pacini. Perkins scored his second of four touchdowns when he caught a 65 yards pass from Anderson a minute later.
Next series Perkins finished a two-minute Dawg drive with a 10-yard run.
Pacini scored his second and final Eagle touchdown with three minutes to play in the half on a 13-yard run. Perkins then scored his fourth touchdown in the quarter with a 27-yard reception with a minute remaining in the half.
Neither team scored in the third quarter. But Virgin Valley would start the fourth with a 72-yard reception by Timothy Moerl from Anderson.
Virgin Valley finished with 550 yards of total offense: 339 rushing and 211 passing. Anderson finished going 9-14 passing with 3 touchdowns. Perkins had 173 yards rushing on 19 carries with two touchdowns and 89-yards receiving on three catches with two more touchdowns.
The Bulldogs will have a bye week and then travel to Moapa Valley in two weeks for Moapa Valley’s homecoming and the annual hammer game.

Del Sol at Palo Verde
Del Sol travelled to Palo Verde and got pounded by the Panthers 47-12.
Palo Verde scored three times in the first quarter and three more times in the second quarter to build a 41-6 lead by halftime. Del Sol scored their only touchdown in the first half.
Del Sol is 2-3 overall.

Southern 3A – Sunset
Sunrise Mountain at Mojave
This was the game of the week as the Sunset league started their league play. Mojave beat the Mners 34-28.
Mojave looked to take control of the game as Ivan Parra scored first with a 3-yard run. Xavier DeLong scored second on a 24-yard run, both touchdowns followed by 2-point conversions. That was the score at halftime 16-0.
John Harper intercepted a Tyree Hayes pass and returned it 65-yards for a touchdown to start the second half.
Sunrise Mountain then scored their first touchdown when Trayvon Ward scored from 9-yards away with a run.
Mojave scored again when Quincy Smith broke a 52-yard run with just under three minutes to play.
The Miners then started their comeback and scored the first of three consecutive touchdowns. Xavier Kyles caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Hayes from 15-yards away. Midway through the fourth quarter Te’andre Love scored on a 20-yard pass from Hayes to bring the Miners with-in a touchdown at 28-21. Ward finished the comeback with an 8-yard run with 1:11 to play in the game.
In overtime DeLong scored from 4-yards away on the second play. Sunrise Mountain was held to a field goal attempt on the first possession of overtime and missed the kick.

Western at Cheyenne
The Desert Storm had no problems with the Warriors beating Western 40-0. Cheyenne’s Clarence Rose scored first with a 2-yard run midway through the first quarter; He scored again with an 8-yard run with 8:18 to play in the second. James Henry scored a defensive touchdown with a 98-yard touchdown interception with 2:37 to play in the half. Rose scored his third touchdown with 19 seconds to play in the half with a 59-yard run. His fourth came when he scored from 2-yards away with 3:39 to play in the third quarter. Joshua Washington scored with 8:01 in the fourth to start the running clock.

Desert Pines at Pahrump
The Jaguars shut out the Trojans 28-0.
The first Desert Pines touchdown was scored on the first series by Jamel Brown on a 50 yard run.
The Jaguars scored three times in the third quarter.

Northern 3A
After last week’s play, there are two teams in the north who are still undefeated in league play: Spring Creek and Fernley. These two teams will meet on Friday night in Spring Creek.

Spring Creek at Wooster
The Spring Creek Spartans beat the Wooster Colts 45-13.
The Spartans had no problem with the Colts as they scored three touchdowns in the first quarter and one touchdown in each of the other quarters.
Wooster scored their two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Wooster has just one win on the season and sit at 1-4 in league play. Spring Creek is 5-0.

Fernley at Sparks
Fernley beat Sparks 33-6. The Railroaders trailed 20-6 at halftime having allowed three touchdowns to the Vaqueros in the second quarter. Sparks scored their lone touchdown in the second quarter. Fernley added two more touchdowns in the third quarter for the final. Sparks had 262 yards rushing in the game.

Truckee at Elko
The Indians of Elko are in the midst of a three game losing streak, something they are not used to. Last Friday night the Wolverines beat the Indians 26-7 in Elko.
Truckee, who had 17 penalties called against them in the game, finished with two touchdowns in the second quarter and two more in the third.
Truckee ran the ball for 272 yards on the night and had 103 yards passing. Elko on the other hand had a hard time producing yardage as well as points. The Indians finished with just 86 yards rushing and 40 yards passing. Truckee is 4-1 in league play and Elko is 2-3.

Fallon at Dayton
The Green Wave did not struggle at all in Dayton, coming away with a 56-0 shutout win. Fallon scored three times in each of the first and second quarters for a 42-0 lead at half time and a running clock in the second half. They added two touchdowns in the third and coasted the rest of the way. Dayton is 0-5 in league play. Fallon is 4-1.

Lowry at South Tahoe
The Vikings of South Tahoe beat the Lowry Buckaroos 42-29. South Tahoe had 346 yards passing and 109 yards rushing in the game.
