Southern 3A Boys – Sunrise
Boulder City
The Eagles hosted the Dragons of Del Sol to start last week’s action. Del Sol kept this game close as it was tied 12-12 after the first quarter, and 22-22 at half time. The third quarter’s pace picked up as the Dragons pushed to a two-point 41-39 lead.
In the fourth quarter Billy Florence took control of the game scoring seven points including going 4-4 from the free throw line to pull the Eagles in the lead and get the win. Boulder City outscored the Dragons 18-11 in the fourth quarter.

On Thursday the Chaparral Cowboys beat the Eagles in Boulcer City, 64-57. It was a battle for first place in the Sunrise division.
This game went right down to the fourth quarter. Boulder City took a 16-14 lead to start the second quarter. Chaparral then started to slowly pull ahead of the Eagles as they scored 18 points in the second quarter for a two-point 32-30 lead at half time. Chaparral added another point to the lead in the third quarter and put the game away with a 20-16 run in the fourth quarter for the win.

Chaparral
The Cowboys played at home against SECTA where they won, 64-43. Chap started the game with a 14-10 run then followed that with a 13-12 second quarter. The Cowboys used a 20-9 third quarter to build a big lead. They closed the game out with an 18- 11 fourth quarter.

Del Sol
The Dragons travelled to Virgin Valley and blew out the Dawgs 64-33. It was not even close.
Del Sol started the game with an 18-4 run then added a 17-11 run in the second quarter for the huge 35-15 lead at half time.
Del Sol added nine points to the lead with a 19-10 run in the third then coasted for the win. That was the only game the Bulldogs played last week.

Sky pointe Academy
The Eagles traveled to Somerset Losse and were beaten 73-33. Losse scored a 25-12 first quarter, then a 25-8 second quarter. They added a 19-8 third quarter and coasted for a 4-5 fourth quarter and the win.

Sunrise Standings:
Chaparral 7-0, Boulder City 5-2, Del Sol 5-2, Vo-Tech 4-3, Moapa Valley 2-5, Virgin Valley 1-6 and Sky Pointe 0-7.

Southern 3A Boys – Sunset
Cheyenne
The game of the week for the Sunset was at Mojave when Cheyenne visited for a battle of undefeated and for first place. Mojave held a small 14-12 lead after the first quarter. The Rattlers then doubled up the Desert Shields with a 22-10 second quarter for a 14-point lead. Mojave ended up winning the game, 61-45
In their second game, Cheyenne made the trip to Pahrump and took out their frustrations on the Trojans with a 73-39 win.

Desert Pines
The Jaguars played four home games last week and came away with a 3-1 record.
They started the week with Innovations International and won 65-40. Desert Pines used a 19-9 second quarter and a 26-6 fourth quarter for the win.
In the second game for the Jaguars, they beat Cimarron Memorial, 58-57, when Brian Washington made the game winning free throw with 2 seconds remaining in the game. Washington scored 18 points to lead the Spartans.

The Jaguars hosted Pahrump on Wednesday and beat the Trojans 62-39. Desert Pines started the game with a 19-8 run followed by a 16-7 second quarter.
In the final game of the week, the Jaguars needed a huge third quarter over the western Warriors to get a 69-62 win. Western shocked the Jaguars with a 23-13 lead after the first quarter. Desert Pines cut the lead to six points in the second 25-19 by half time.
That is when Desert Pines came out with the big third quarter to take a 53-44 lead into the fourth quarter.

Mojave
The Rattlers are in first place in the Sunset with two wins last week. The first was against Cheyenne (see above).
The second win was against Sunrise Mountain 64-57. Mojave built a lead of 12 points in the second half with two runs of six-points. Sunrise Mountain attempted to come back by out scoring the Rattlers 23-18 in the fourth quarter.

Sunrise Mountain
The Miners travelled to Western and were shocked in the first half as the Warriors dominated taking a big lead 38-18 by half time. The Miners came back as they scored a 23-13 third quarter and a 25-12 fourth quarter for a close 66-63 win over the Warriors.

Sunset Standings:
Mojave 4-0, Cheyenne 3-1, Desert Pines 3-1, Pahrump Valley 1-3, Sunrise Mountain 1-3 and Western 0-4.

Southern 3A Girls – Sunrise
Boulder City
The Eagles won both of their games last week. The first against Del Sol, 40-29. In that game the Eagles built a small 5-point lead by the end of the first quarter. They added three more points to that lead by half time for a 21-13 lead.
In their second game the Eagles hosted Chaparral and beat the Cowboys 56-39. It was in the third quarter that the Eagles got their big lead, outscoring the Cowboys, 20-13.

Chaparral
The Cowboys played at SECTA, a 54-17 win. This was an easy one for the Cowboys, who scored a 20-5 first quarter, 20-9 second quarter and coasted for the win.

Del Sol
The Dragons took on Boulder City in their first game (see above).
In their second game they nearly beat Virgin Valley in Mesquite. Both teams started the first and third quarters very slowly. At the end of the first quarter Del Sol lead 5-3. By half time the score was 17-14 Del Sol. The third quarter each team scored 5 points. The fourth quarter Virgin Valley came back with a 17-11 run for the win 36-33.

Sunrise Standings:
Sunrise Moapa Valley 7-0, Virgin Valley 6-1, Boulder City 5-2, Chaparral 3-4, Vo-Tech 2-5, Del Sol 1-6and Sky Pointe 0-6.

Southern 3A Girls – Sunset
Cheyenne
The Desert Storm started with a 46-43 lost to Coronado. Cheyenne trailed after the first quarter 9-4. The built a six-point lead during the second quarter when they out-scored the Cougars 21-10. Coronado cut the lead to two points by the end of the third before a 13-8 fourth quarter gave the Cougars the win.
In the second game Cheyenne beat Mojave, 60-43. They built the lead in the second quarter with an 18-9 run. Mojave outscored the Desert Shields 14-11 in the third quarter before Cheyenne caught fire in the fourth and won the game with a 23-13 run for the win.
The third game saw Cheyenne beat Pahrump. The Desert Shields dominated three of the four quarters including a second quarter of 17-7 and a fourth quarter of 16-6 for a 53-38 win over the Trojans.

Desert Pines
The Jaguars were beat by Pahrump, 44-31. Pahrump outscored the Jaguars in every quarter but the fourth: 12-9, 7-3, 11-4 and 15-14.
In the second game, the Jaguars were beaten by Western 50-42. Western built their lead early in the first half then held on for the win.

Mojave
The Rattlers were 1-1 last week. Their final game of the week was against Sunrise Mountain where the Desert Storm came away with a 56-20 win. The Rattlers took a ten-point 12-2 lead after the first quarter. Mojave then raced to a 32-10 half time lead when they had a 20-8 run in the second quarter. After a 21-7, third quarter the Rattlers coasted to the win.

Sunrise Mountain
The Miners were beaten by the Western Warriors 55-17. A 19-7 Western run in the first and a 17-6 run in the second quarter did the Miners in.

Sunset Standings:
Mojave 3-1, Western 3-1, Cheyenne 2-2 Desert Pines 2-2, Pahrump Valley 2-2 and Sunrise Mountain 0-4.
