3A Spring Sports Roundup (March 14, 2018)

3A Baseball – Sunrise
Boulder City
The defending 3A baseball state champions struggled last week. They finished 1-3 in the first week of the season.
The Eagles started with a loss to Faith Lutheran 12-2. They then beat Legacy 7-0. Finally they lost to Shadow Ridge twice. The first game 7-4 and the second game was a shutout, 15-0.

Chaparral
The Cowboys started strong with a 3-1 record to start the season. They began with a loss to Clark 5-4. Then they had a string of victories. They beat Mojave 10-5; Canyon Springs, 18-3; and SECTA, 16-4.

Del Sol
The Dragons played one game last week getting beat by SLAM Academy 5-2.
The Dragons are 0-1.

SECTA
The Roadrunners started their final season in the 3A by finishing the week 3-1. They beat Lincoln County 13-4 to start the Sun Devil tournament. Then they beat Canyon Springs 8-4 and Mojave 3-2. They lost to Chaparral 16-4.

Virgin Valley
The Bulldogs started their season with the Cactus Classic. They had a tie with San Juan High School 2-2. They lost to Emery then beat Alta 8-2 before Alta beat the Dawgs 9-6. Virgin Valley is 1-2-1.

3A Baseball – Sunset
Desert Pines
The Jaguars are 2-2 after their first week of the baseball season. They started with a 12-0 win over Lincoln County. Canyon Springs then beat the Jaguars, 4-3. That was followed by Eldorado’s win, 4-1. The Jaguars finished the week with an 8-7 win over Canyon Springs.

Mojave
The Rattlers lost all four-games that they played last week to start 0-4. They were beat 5-3 by Eldorado; then beaten by Chaparral 10-5. SECTA beat them 3-2 followed by Clark who won 8-1.

Pahrump Valley
The Trojans were 1-4 last week. They beat Kingman Arizona 8-1. Then they lost four straight games. The first to Hilbrook Arizona 6-4. They lost to Southwest California 5-4; then Spring Creek 8-1; and the final loss came to Lake Havasu Arizona 13-1.

Western
The Warriors beat West Toronto 13-8 in their only game last week. They are 1-0.

3A Softball – Sunrise
Boulder City
The Eagles started strong with a 4-2 record last week. They beat Holbrook 6-0, Durango 7-6, Legacy 17-7 and Chino Valley 9-2. Their two losses came against Desert Oasis 8-0 and Palo Verde Valley California 10-9.

Del Sol
The Dragons were 3-2 last week with wins over SECTA 21-7 then SECTA again 10-6 and Western 9-7. They were beaten by Eldorado twice 17-2 in the first game and 12-1 in the second game.

SECTA
The Roadrunners were 0-3 to start the season last week. Their losses came against Eldorado 15-0 then to Del Sol twice as mentioned.

Virgin Valley
The Bulldogs started their season 2-0 last week. They started with a 6-1 win over Lincoln County and a 14-8 win over Wells. They were beaten by Aquinas California 16-0 and Elko 9-5.

3A Softball – Sunset
Pahrump Valley
The Trojans were 2-2 in their first week of the softball season. They beat White Pine 9-8 then Needles California 10-7. Their losses were against Caochella California 6-1 and Durango 11-3.

Western
The Warriors were 2-1 last week. They beat Canyon Springs 16-3 and Clark 19-4. The lone loss came against Del Sol 9-7.
