Great running…..or dye trying!
That was the attitude of local runners who participated in the Color Fun 5k on Saturday morning. More than 100 community members of all ages came to the Clark County Fairgrounds to participate in the fun.

The color run was untimed and noncompetitive, and its participants ranged from stroller riders to sprinters. The course followed the walking path along Heyer St, W. Gubler Ave., N. Lyman St., and Whipple Ave near the fairgrounds. As runners took on this course they were showered with homemade colored powder.
“It was awesome!” said 10-year-old Zach Kelly. “When the people threw color at me, it was super fun! And I got a bag, too, so I could throw it back at them!”

An alternative course was also set up inside of the fairgrounds. There, elementary school-aged runners could earn miles for the Grant M. Bowler Elementary School’s Hundred Mile Club.

After the race, children were invited to play in the leftover powder.
“I like the colors,” said 11-year-old Faith Kelly, “And it was fun to get the powder all over me!”
“I liked throwing it!” added six-year-old Rebecca Jackson with a mischievous giggle.

While the color run was intended to be a fun community event, it also acted as a fundraiser for the LDS Overton 4th Ward Young Women’s organization. The proceeds from the event will help the girls pay for an annual Girls Camp this summer.
“It was the best color run ever!” commented Jennifer and Jared Marshall who ran in the event. “We had a lot of fun.”
