The Moapa Valley High School football team traveled to Las Vegas on Friday night where they soundly beat the Eldorado Sun Devils 48-12.

From the get-go the Pirates dominated the Sun Devils. Trysten Lehman scored the first touchdown with a 12-yard run with 7:29 to play in the first quarter. It took ten plays for the Pirates to travel 81-yards. Leo Rios kicked the extra point for a 7-0 lead.

After an apparent Pirate touchdown was called back, Braeden St John scored the second Pirate touchdown with a 10-yard touchdown run on the seventh play of the drive.

Eldorado fumbled on the first play after the kickoff turning the ball back to the Pirates. Chase Hoy then caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from Luke Bennett on the first play after.
Lehman scored his second touchdown of the game with a 10-yard run on the Pirates fourth possession. Rios missed the PAT and the Pirates led 27-0.

Eldorado fumbled the ball again on the kickoff which the Pirates recovered at the Sun Devil 27. Four plays later St John scored his second touchdown with a 4-yard run.
Moapa Valley defense held the Sun Devils to three out and forcing a punt. The kick failed due to a bad snap that sailed way over the head of the punter who picked the ball up after running through the endzone and kicked it out of bounds at the Sun Devil 20-yardline.

Two plays later, Hoy caught his second touchdown pass of the evening from Bennett catching an 18-yards touchdown with 1:22 to play in the first half. This started the running clock with a Pirate lead of 41-0.

Eldorado fumbled again when the quarterback scrambled and turned the ball over at the 28-yardline. St John scored his third touchdown with a 26-yard run for the Pirates final score of the evening.
Eldorado scored the two touchdowns with the Pirates starters out of the game. Deosinque Griffin scored from 10-yards away with 1:17 to play in the third quarter.
Eldorado tried an onside kick and recovered the ball after it bounced off the chest of a Pirate on the front line.

Guillermo Hernandez scored the final points with a 12-yard run. The defense was solid limiting Eldorado to very little until the end.

Moapa Valley finished the game with 358-yards of total offense: 222 yards came from running the ball on 24 carries while 136 came from 8-10 passing. Bennett was 7-9 for 132-yards and two touchdowns. St John finished with 99-yards rushing on 12 carries scoring three touchdowns. Lehman ran the ball 5 times for 66-yards and 2 touchdowns. Jessup Lake had 2 carries for a total of 29-yards and Russell Bodily ran 3 times for 16-yards.

Hoy had 2 catches for 40-yards and 3 touchdowns. Derek Reese caught 2 passes for 35-yards.
Eldorado finished with 165-yards of total offense. Eighty yards came from 18 carries while 85 came from 5-9 passing. Jalen Malone was 5-9 with 2 touchdowns. He was also the leading rusher with 6 carries for 35-yards.

This Friday, the Pirates will host the Cheyenne Desert Shields. Cheyenne is 4-0 this year in the Sunset. This is the game of the week as the loser may end up the second seed in the south and may have to travel north if both Moapa Valley and Cheyenne win their league titles.
