The Moapa Valley High School Girls Golf team traveled to Boulder City to compete in a tournament at the beautiful Boulder Creek Golf Course. Team members, Patricia Slaughter and Checotah Rowley were joined by Grace Rhude at the course.
The cut for the tournament was 56 for the front nine holes, and Patricia made the cut with a 48. She took second place with a final score of 94. This was the first time Patricia finished a round under 100.
Patricia began the tournament in the first group. Each team is grouped by skill level. Patricia has been playing golf for around 5 years. Checotah and Grace were in the same group towards the end of teams.
Checotah shaved seven points off her score this week for a final score of 130. Grace finished with a final score of 122.
“Not only was this Grace’s first tournament, but also her first par,” said Coach Steffanie Gray. “She was on the green in three and sunk a 30-foot putt for par. High fives for sure.”
“I am very proud of all the girls,” Gray added. “They have all shown improvement and a love for the game and for learning about the sport. All the girls did an amazing job. We really have a good team that will be going places in the near future.”
