Southern 3A
Sunrise Mtn at Virgin Valley
It was homecoming in Virgin Valley, Sunrise Mountain was the invited guest. The Miners had a chance to qualify for the playoffs with an upset of the Bulldogs. On the other hand, the loser would be out.
Turns out, it was not a good night for the Bulldogs. Virgin Valley scored first on a 1-yard touchdown run by Delano. The extra point attempt was a fumbled snap followed by a desperation throw that fell incomplete.

The Miners would get their first touchdown when Tyree Hayes completed a 62-yard pass for a touchdown. Tying the game at 6-6.
The Miners would take a touchdown lead on a 1-yard run. The Dawgs returned with a 61-yard Delano run. The Miners would take a 20-12 lead at halftime when they scored an 11-yard touchdown run.

Virgin Valley would fumble in Sunrise Mountain territory then score late in the fourth with a chance to cut the lead to a one touchdown advantage. But they couldn’t score the 2-point conversion.
A failed onside kick and the Miners ran out the clock.
The Dawgs are eliminated meaning the only thing they have left is the Hammer game against the Pirates this Friday night.
