MVHS Tennis Players Advance To State

Three Moapa Valley High School Tennis players won the chance to compete in the state championship tournament at last week’s regional tournament. Pirate athletes Chase Hadley, Slade Graham and Hunter Wresinski all qualified to play in the Nevada State tennis tournament being held in Truckee California this weekend.

The top four from the southern region qualify for the state tournament. Last week Hadley beat Boulder City’s Breton Erlanger in the third place match. Hadley won the first match 6-4 and was tied 5-5 when Erlanger quit/retired from the match giving the win to Hadley.

The doubles team of Graham and Wresinski beat the Meadows Justin Finseth and Ethan Lee 6-2, 7-5 in their third place match. They will be the third seed from the south.

The team tournament starts Thursday with Truckee the top seed in the boy’s northern region facing The Meadows the second seed from the south. Boulder City the top seed from the south will play South Tahoe the second seed from the north. Truckee is also the top seed in the north on the girls side. The Wolverines will play Boulder City the second seed from the south.

The Meadow girls are the top seed from the south and will play North Valleys the second seed from the north.

In the individual tournament Hadley will play Dalton Fry from Incline Village who is the second seed from the north.

Graham and Wresinski will play Turner Drummond and Elliot Rost from Truckee, the second seed from the north. In their first round match. This tournament will start on Friday.
