Boys 3A Southern – Sunset
Del Sol
The Dragons beat Somerset-Losee 72-50 on Thursday night. They used a 21-8 third quarter run to pull away from the Lions who had an early lead of 19-15 after the first quarter.
Ray Daniels led the Lions with 27-points. Nati Asfaw scored 31-points for the Dragons.

Democracy Prep
The Blue Knights, currently ranked #1 in the southern 3A, travelled to 4A Canyon Springs who is ranked 2nd in the Northeast behind Desert Pines. The Knights stayed close in the first quarter trailing 13-10. It was the second quarter that the Pioneers opened the game up with a 17-9 run creating the distance they needed for the win.
Democracy Prep got hot in the third quarter 22-18 but could not get back. They came away with a 64-56 loss. Daniel Plummer led the Blue Knights with 21-points. Alexander Spaight scored 17-points to lead the Pioneers.
In their second game of the week the Knights hosted Del Sol. They started the game with a 21-6 first quarter then added a 24-12 second quarter for a 43-18 lead by halftime. The Knights continued their dominance of the 3A Sunset with a 75-45 win over second place

Del Sol.
Chancellor Johnson led the Blue Knights with 27-points. Del Sol was lead by Nati Asfaw who scored 16-points.
On Thursday the Knights hosted Mojave. A huge second quarter opened the way to a 71-54 win. The Knights scored 25-points in the second quarter while holding the Rattlers to just 8-points.
Damon McDowell led the Rattlers with 16-points. The Blue Knights were led by Najeeb Muhammad with 23-points.

Mojave
The Rattlers made the trip to Pahrump and came away with a blow out victory 69-33. It was 14-10 after the first then 39-24 by halftime. Mojave went on a 26-4 run in the third to fortify the rout. Isiah Harper scored 15-points for the Rattlers. No Trojan scored in double figures during the game.

Pahrump Valley
The Trojans travelled to Valley where they had built a 28-22 lead by the end of the third quarter. Valley then started the fourth quarter on a roll and did not finish until they had a 45-41 win. The Vikings finished with a 23-13 fourth quarter lead by Andre Jones who scored 12-points. The Trojans were led by Grant Odeguard with 12-points and Ethan Whittle who scored 11-points.

Valley
The Valley Vikings got a win over the Rancho Rams on Friday night 53-45. The Vikings built a 39-26 lead by the end of the third quarter before the Rams exploded for 19-points in the fourth quarter. It was not enough, though. The Vikings held them off. Omar Simpson led Valley with 23-points. James Brown led the Rams with 15-points.

Western
The Warriors beat the Valley Vikings 68-51. Western held a 13-3 lead after the first quarter then 35-21 at halftime. Gawain Powell led the Warriors with 15-points. Angel Hernandez-Garcia led Valley with 12-points.
The Warriors travelled to Somerset-Losee and lost a thriller when Ayden Young made a free throw with 30 seconds remaining in the game. The Warriors could not score the game winner as the Lions beat the Warriors 62-61. Young finished with 21-points for the Lions including six 3-pointers. Keanu McGee led Western with 20-points.

Sunset standings: Democracy Prep 16-5 6-0, Mojave 14-7 4-2, Del Sol 12-9 3-2, Western 4-15 2-3, Valley 4-14 2-4, Pahrump Valley 4-15 0-6.

Boys 3A Southern – Sunrise
Boulder City
The Eagles finished last week with a big win over second place Chaparral 53-48. The Eagles won the first half 26-15 but lost the second half 33-27. The first half lead was enough to secure the win. Derrick Thomas lad the Eagles with 21-points. Sameal Anderson scored 19-points to lead the Cowboys.

Virgin Valley
The Bulldogs got their first two league wins of the season. The first was at home against the Sunrise Mountain Miners, 52-46. Virgin Valley trailed by one point after third quarter. The Dawgs then went on a 18-11 run in the fourth for the win. Braden Bingham scored 14-points to lead the Dawgs while Will Barnum added 10.
Virgin Valley then traveled to Sky Pointe and came home with a 53-38 win. The Bulldogs had a 15-2 run in the second quarter then followed that with a 19-10 third quarter. Daxon Toone scored 15-points, Kris Leavitt and Bingham each had 10-points.

Sunrise standings: Boulder City 16-3 4-0, Chaparral 9-6 3-1, Moapa Valley 13-7 3-1, Virgin Valley 3-12 2-2, Sky Pointe 2-11 0-4, Sunrise Mountain 5-11 0-4.

Girls 3A Southern – Sunrise
Boulder City
Boulder City was 2-0 last week with wins on the road at Chaparral, 68-36, and Sunrise Mountain. Setia Cox led the Eagles with 18-points in the Chaparral game. The Eagles started with a 23-11 run in the first quarter. In the Sunrise Mountain game the Eagles started with a 20-12 first quarter then held on for the win 62-54. Ellie Howard scored 26-points for Boulder City.

Sunrise Mountain
The Miners beat Virgin Valley 61-49 last week in Mesquite. They used a 20-8 third quarter to separate themselves from the Dawgs. Markalia McCurdy led everyone with 22-points for the Miners. Alexis Boatright led the Dawgs with 18-points.

Virgin Valley
The Bulldogs won by a forfeit over Sky Pointe.

Sunset standings: Pahrump Valley 17-11 6-0, Mojave 10-6 5-1, Democracy Prep 7-7 3-3, Western 2-11 2-3, Del Sol 7-10 1-4, Valley 0-17 0-6.

Sunrise standings: Moapa Valley 14-6 4-0, Boulder City 12-7 3-1, Sunrise Mountain 8-10 2-2, Virgin Valley 9-11 2-2, Chaparral 5-9 1-3, Sky Pointe 2-7 0-4.
