Boys Southern 3A Sunrise
Boulder City
The Eagles are still undefeated in the Sunrise. Last week the Eagles started with an easy win over Skypointe 81-50.
Boulder City held six point lead after the first quarter then exploded with a 28 point second quarter. Skypointe stayed as close as they could scoring 20-points of their own. They could not keep up in the third quarter, though, as the Eagles continued to score with 29 in the third while Skypointe struggled with just 7-points.

Boulder City’s Ethan Speaker scored 22 followed by Matt Morton and his 21. Karson Bailey added 18 while Derrick Thomas scored 10. Neil Murray lead Sky Pointe with 15 followed by 12 from Arrey Akoh.
The Eagles then hosted Chaparral in a battle for first place; and it was a battle! The game was tied 12-12 after the first quarter. The Eagles held a four point lead by halftime with a 12-8 run.

Then the game heated up as Chaparral cut the lead to three points with a 21-20 third quarter. They were able to shave another point off the lead but could not close it out with a 20-19 fourth quarter.
The game was tied at 61-61 when Derrick Thomas scored a layup with 10 seconds to play for an Eagles win. With that, the Eagles win the league title and the top seed in next week’s upcoming regional tournament.
Thomas finished with 16-points while Speaker scored 26 and Bailey added 12. Sameal Anderson lead the Cowboys with 20-points while Elijah Briggs scored 15.

Chaparral
The Cowboys beat Sunrise Mountain to start last week 65-40. The Miners were close until halftime when the Cowboys out scored the Miners 21-4 to break the game open.

Virgin Valley
The Bulldogs won their first game of the week against Sunrise Mountain 51-45 in overtime. But it took a comeback for the Bulldogs to win it.
The Dawgs trailed 8-6 after the first. Then 23-19 at halftime. A 10-9 run brought the Dawgs within three points. They tied the game with a 13-10 run and won the game with a 9-3 overtime period.
Will Barnum scored 20-points to lead the Dawgs while Daxon Toone added 12-points. Dai’Quan Sykea led the Miners with 13-points.

Sunrise standings
Boulder City 21-3 8-0, Chaparral 13-7 6-2, Moapa Valley 16-8 6-2, Virgin Valley 4-15 3-5, Sunrise Mountain 6-14 1-7 and Sky Pointe 2-15 0-8.

Boys Southern 3A Sunset
Democracy Prep
The Blue Knights are the top seed in the Sunset with an undefeated league record. Last week they had two very easy wins.
The first was against Somerset-Losee 84-47. Then they beat Pahrump VAlley 97-44. In the first game the Blue Knights jumped out to a 24-8 lead. Losee made a game of it with 22-points in the second quarter. But they were still outscored by one point as the Blue Knights scored 23. Democracy Prep went on a 20-5 run in the third.

In their second game of the week, at Pahrump Valley, the Blue Knights scored 23, 26 and 30 points in the first three quarters for a rout of the Trojans.
Mojave
The Rattlers are in second place. They played just one game last week. It was a win against the Western Warriors 61-42. Western led 16-14 after the first quarter then allowed a 19-6 run. Mojave finished the game with a 20-10 fourth quarter for the win.

Del Sol
The Dragons won twice last week. They beat Pahrump Valley 52-44 in the first game. The Dragons took a 11-4 lead in the first quarter and coasted to a win.

The Dragons hosted the Valley Vikings in the second game of the week. They used a 20-5 second quarter to break away from the Vikings and then cruise to a 53-44 win.

Western
The Warriors hosted Somerset-Losee where the two teams were tied a 11 after the first quarter. Losee found it hard to score in the second quarter, scoring just one basket while the Warriors built a small 20-13 lead by halftime. Western held on for a 43-41 win.

Sunset standings
Democracy Prep 20-5 8-0, Mojave 17-7 7-2, Del Sol 14-11 5-4, Western 6-17 3-5, Valley 5-16 2-6 and Pahrump Valley 5-18 0-8.

Girls Southern 3A Sunrise
Boulder City
The Eagles remained in first place with two wins last week. They beat Sky Pointe 57-12 in the first game. The Eagles outscored Sky Pointe 20-2 in the first quarter and 21-3 in the second quarter. Ellie Howard scored 17-points for the Eagles. Seta Cox scored 14, Hannah Estes and Kailee Fisher each scored 10-points.

The Eagles beat the Chaparral Cowboys in the second game 54-35. Boulder City had a 16-6 third quarter for the win. Emani While lead the Cowboys with 19-points. Howard scored 16 for the Eagles while Estes scored 12 and Cox added 10.

Sunrise Mountain
The Miners beat the Chaparral Cowboys 57-27. Aiyana Ramirez scored 24 for the Miners to lead the rout. The Miners led 29-9 by halftime.
In their second game they lost to the Virgin Valley Bulldogs at home 42-39 in overtime. The Dawgs outscored the Miners 6-3 in overtime for the win. The Bulldogs trailed by five points to start the fourth quarter.

Sunrise standings
Boulder City 17-7 7-1, Moapa Valley 16-8 6-2, Sunrise Mountain 11-11 5-3, Virgin Valley 11-13 4-4, Chaparral 6-13 2-6 and Sky Pointe 3-12 0-8.

Girls Southern 3A Sunset
Mojave
The Rattlers played a single game last week which they won 58-21 over the Western Warriors. They worked for a 10-point first quarter lead 18-8 then pushed it to twenty in the second quarter 33-13. A 16-2 run in the third quarter ended it.
Alecia Kelly scored 24-points for the Rattlers who are in first place of the Sunset. Jasmine Kaufman scored 134 while Chania Scott added 12.

Pahrump Valley
The Trojans played twice last week. They beat Del Sol 57-21 and Democracy Prep 52-46.
In the first game the Trojans held Del Sol to 10-points in the first half as they built a 33-10 lead. Del Sol scored just two-points in the fourth quarter.
In the second game the Trojans travelled to Democracy Prep where they held on to beat the Knights. The game was tied at 15’s to end the first quarter.
Pahrump Valley outscored the Blue Knights by 6-points in the second quarter which was the difference in the game.

Del Sol
The Dragons beat the Valley Vikings 29-27 in overtime as they were able to score the only basket in overtime. The Dragons tied the game in the fourth quarter after trailing by six points at the beginning of the quarter. Page Birch lead the Dragons with 15-points. Layla Jackson lead the Vikings with 11.

Western
The Warriors beat Somerset Losee 53-22. The game was tied 10-10 after the first quarter. Then the Warriors took control. Adrianna Jones scored 26-points to lead the Warriors. Miliani Johnson added 10-points.

Mojave 13-6 8-1, Pahrump Valley 18-12 7-1, Democracy Prep 9-7 5-3, Del Sol 9-12 3-6, Western 3-14 2-6 and Valley 1-19 0-8.
