Moapa Valley Progress
The Moapa Valley High School Baseball team ended its season last year with a 4-6 league record in fifth place. They were just out of the postseason.
This year, the Pirates will return most of last year’s team. They should have a team that can compete for a league title.
Players returning are Luke Bennet, Chase Hadley, Coby Longman, Payton McDermott, Cameron Powers, Hunter Wrzesinki, Kashten Frei, Kobe Evans, Slade Graham, Gannon Hymas and Gavin Hadley.
The Pirates will start their season in Mesquite this weekend at the Cactus Classic.
Last year Boulder City and Pahrump Valley represented the south in the state tournament. Boulder City was the first place team from the south with Pahrump Valley the second seed.
The Trojans eliminated the Eagles in the second game of the state tournament then were eliminated themselves with a second loss to Elko who would be the state runner-up. Truckee won the state title last year.
