Boys Soccer
The Moapa Valley High School Boys’ Soccer team returned to action on Thursday, Mar. 4, for the first “fall season” sports contest this year.
The Pirates hosted the SLAM! Bulls and were beaten by the Bulls 3-1.

MVHS Head Coach Randy Tobler said that his team is small this year meaning they wont have a lot of depth. But Tobler is optimistic that his team will play hard and gain some experience and build the team for the future. There are no other public schools in CCSD competing this year, except for Virgin Valley who will be coming into the season a week behind since the Bulldogs are just beginning a hybrid school schedule this week.

Joey Bailey scored the Pirates lone goal with a nice shot in the upper corner.
Ethan Fulman, CJ Andersen and Zach Bailey led the team in shots.
Radley Tobler, Fox Soderquist, and Dylan Jones played great games on the defensive end.
Danny Bailey, the sophomore goalie, had 18 saves during the game.

“For his first game Danny did an amazing job,” said Tobler. “We had two penalty shots we missed that would have made a big difference in the game.”

Girls Soccer
The Pirate Girls’ Soccer team was scheduled to play its first game on Thursday night last week at SLAM. But the game was canceled because SLAM has pulled out of competition for the season due to a lack of players for the team.

Tennis
The MVHS Boys and Girls Tennis teams finished its first match with 12-0 wins over Lake Mead on Friday, Mar. 5. Lake Mead couldn’t field a full team, but the Pirate players were able to still get some matches in.

Karli Keller, Savannah Aikele, Nick Hoy, Hunter Landini were undefeated in singles. Isaac Thompson/Marcus Leavitt, Aiden Johnson/Bradon Leavitt went undefeated in doubles.
