Upcoming Fun Planned For Mesquite

A host of family-friendly events are planned at the Mesquite Department of Athletics & Leisure Services for the upcoming Spring season.

One such event being planned for local families will be the Mesquite Corn Hole Fest. In conjunction with Mesquite Senior Games organization, this competition will be open to all ages and levels of skill.
The tournament will be held on Saturday, April 17 at the Recreation Center at 100 West Old Mill Road.

The registration fee for the Competing Division is $20 per person. That includes a t-shirt and lunch. ACA rules and regulation with modification will be used.

The non-competitive division, to play just for fun, will cost $15.00 per person and includes lunch. There is a $5 charge for non-competing children for lunch and use of the Bounce House and child obstacle course that will be provided.

The BBQ Lunch will be provided by the Mesquite Firefighters Association. Registration check-in begins at 8 am on the day of th event. The tournament begins at 9 am. To sign-up go to www.Mesquiteseniorgames.org or call 702-345-3347.

Youth T-Ball & Coach Pitch is scheduled to begin Monday, April 5. These leagues are for ages 4-5 and ages 6-7 respectively. The deadline for registration is March 20.

“The purpose of youth programs in the City is to guide boys and girls through an organized program,” said Recreation Supervisor Zach Robison. “Youth can learn the fundamentals of a sport and learn sportsmanship through participation. The ultimate goal is to encourage skill development and foster a positive attitude.”

The Recreation Center has opened it’s Gym space for indoor pickleball. The hours are Monday through Friday 11:30 am to 3:30 pm; Saturday 8-10 am.
