MVHS Hosts First Track Meet Of 2021

It was an exciting day in Moapa Valley on Saturday, April 17 when the first Track and Field event took place at Jeff Keel field and stadium. The Pirates hosted their first home meet of the season when Legacy, Desert Pines and Democracy Prep came to town to compete.

The football field is within a week of being complete after receiving it’s new artificial turf and lighting system. Moapa Valley won both the boy’s and girl’s contests as the Pirates were well represented.

The team scores in the boy’s meet were Moapa Valley 109, Legacy 98 and Democracy Prep 6. The girl’s team totals were Moapa Valley 146, Legacy 53, Democracy Prep 20 and Desert Pines 12.

In the boy’s 100 meters, Legacy finished in the top four positions with Savion DeGraffe winning with a time of 10.6. For the Pirates, Garrett Clove placed fifth with a time of 11.9, Ethan Stankosky ran 12.4, Canyon Andrew ran a 12.5 and Logan Harris placed eighth with a time of 13.9.

The 200 meters saw Degraffe win the boys’ event with a time of 22.5. Clove finished second with a time of 24.0, Peyton Neilson placed third with a time of 25.0. Andrew was sixth with his time of 26.0 while Hunter Davis finished seventh with a time of 26.5.

Lightford won the 400 meters with a time of 54.3. Neilson was third with a time of 59.0 and Logan Harris finished eighth for the Pirates with a time of 1:14.9.

Preston Humes won the 800 meters with a time of 2:04.0 and the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:41.7. Marcus Shambaugh won the 3200 meters with a time of 10:57.1 while Joseph Boss placed third with a time of 12:19.4.

Hunter Davis won the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 18.8 then won the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 50.6.

Eli Cox won the shotput throwing 36-01. Tyler Rowley placed second, 34-06.5 and Aden Wallace placed third, 34-5.
Cox also won the discus with a throw of 106-06. Wallace was second, 85-11.

Peyton Neilson won the high jump clearing 5-03. Wyatt Clove won the pole vault, 7-06. Garrett Clove won the long jump 18-02. Wyatt Clove placed third in the triple jump, 29-08.5.
In the girls 100 meters: Paige Bodily finished fourth with a time of 13.6.

Allison Mills placed third in the 200 meters at 27.9. Brook Sherwood was fourth in the 400 meters, 1:12.1 while Bodily finished 1:17.6.

McKinley Bledsoe placed second on the 800 meters with Jorja Freeman third, 3:10 and Alena Hull fourth 3:12.

Bledsoe also finished second in the 1600 meters, 6:27.8 with Hull finishing third 7:13.9.
Skotlyn Hill won the 100 meter hurdles, 16.5, Hanna Watson was second, 17.6, Talley Blackwell third, 19.3.

Hill also won the 300 meter hurdles, 49.4, Mills was second 54.2, Landini fourth, 59.3.
Shot put had Kyla Bradshaw winning the event with a 29-01.5, Kayla Walters placed second, 28-07, Madalynn Frederick third 26-0.

Bradshaw also won the discus with a throw of 84-0, Carvajal second 71-0, Wolfley 68-02, Walters fourth 66-05.

Hill won her third event the high jump, 4-10, Reese was second 4-08, Bailee Andrew fourth 4-02,
Pole vault had Faith Witter and Mills finish first with vaults of 6-06, Sierra Wolfley finished third, 5-00.
Watson won the long jump.15-06.5, Andrew was second 13-03.5, Landini third, 12-11.

This Saturday the Pirates will travel to Shadow Ridge.
