Pirate Track Competes At Shadow Ridge Meet

The Moapa Valley High School Track and Field teams travelled to Shadow Ridge High School on Saturday, April 24, to compete in their second meet of the season. Four schools gathered including Indian Springs, Pahranagat Valley, Moapa Valley and host Shadow Ridge.

The Shadow Ridge boys team finished first in the meet with 107 points. Moapa Valley finished second with 101 points. Pahranagat Valley finished third with 6 points.

The Moapa Valley girls won their competition with 152.5 points as Shadow Ridge finished second with 74.5 points.

On the girls’ side, Makayla Baldwin won the 100 meter and the 200 meter races at the event with times of 13.97 and 28.76 respectively.
Talli Fairchild won the 400 meter event with a time of 108.08.

Talli also ran on the 4X400 relay team with Allison Mills, Paige Fairchild and Skotlyn Hill. The team won the event with a time of 4:27.96.
Bailee Andrew placed fourth in the 200 meters with her time of 29.61.

Emma Humes won the 800 meters with a time of 5:56.09 then placed fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:43.61.
McKinley Bledsoe placed third in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:15.55.

It was Skotlyn Hill who led a group of four Pirates in the 100 meters hurdles. Hill ran a 16.62 while Hanna Watson finished second with a time of 18.26. Taley Blackwell finished third with a time of 19.21 and Sydney Landini finished fourth with a time of 19.53.

Hill also won the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 47.79. Blackwell finished third in that event with 54.88.

Kyla Bradshaw won the shotput event with a throw of 29-02. Three more Pirates were right behind her with Madalynn Fredrick taking second, 26-07; Leyah Carvajal third, 25-07.5; and Shanlin Totten fourth, 24-04.5.

Bradshaw also won the discus with her throw of 90-03. Wolfley placed second, 82-04; Frederick third, 71-02; Carvajal fourth 69-11.

Reese won the high jump with a height of 5-01. Hill placed second at 4-10; and Blackwell third at 4-02.
Hanna Watson won the pole vault hitting a height of 10-00. She also won the long jump event at 16-0. Andrew placed second in the long jump, 14-00; Totten third 13-07.5. Landini placed second
Watson also landed on top in the triple jump at 32-11. Landini placed second at 28-01 and Totten third at 28-00.

On the boys’ side of the conterst, Austin Heiselbitz finished third in the 100 meters at 12.06. Heiselbetz then took first in the 200 meters with a time of 24.46.

Preston Humes won the 400 meters with a time of 54.08. Ethan Witter finished second with 55.49 and Trevor Witter finished fourth, 56.94.

Humes got another first place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:03.9, Cyrus Katich finished fourth at 2:11.32,

Finally, Humes swept the 1600 meter race with a time of 4:34.89. Anderson was sixth, 57.86. Katich took second with 4:40.65 and Marcus Shambaugh took fourth at 4:54.73.

In the hurdles, Garrett Clove won the 300 meters with a time of 46.97. Anderson placed second in the 110 meters at 18.76.
Eli Cox won the shotput with a throw of 39-00.5. Cox also won the discus with a throw of 110-05.
Peyton Neilson placed second in the high jump at 5-04. Ethan Stankoski finished third at 5-02.
Wyatt Clove placed third in the pole vault, 8-00. He also placed third in the triple jump, 26-07.25.
Garrett Clove placed second in the triple jump at 36-05.5.

Track and field returns to Moapa Valley this Saturday with Del Sol, Equipo Academy and Sunrise Mountain coming to town.
