Lady Bulldogs Beat Pirates, 6-2

The Pirates hosted Virgin Valley on Tuesday, May 11, and came away with a loss 6-2 against the Bulldogs.

Virgin Valley got three runs in the first inning. The Bulldogs were at the plate first and got an early walk putting Reggi Frei on first base. Natalie Plancarte then singled to right field advancing Frei to third base. Ana Tausinga grounded to Terra Evans who couldn’t handle the ball allowing Frei to score.

Gabriell Potter walked, loading the bases following a ground ball to Staheli at shortstop. Plancarte scored as well as Potter. Tausinga was thrown out at third.
Moapa Valley went three and out in the first inning.

Kyndall Longman made the first hit for the Pirates in the 4th inning. Cornwall then lined out to the second baseman, doubling up Longman who couldn’t get back to first in time.

In the fifth inning, the Pirates had chances at evening up the score. Emily Matheson singled to right field as Yanelli Andrade advanced to second base. Emilie Lyon singled to right. Andrade was thrown out at home trying to score from second. Matheson advanced to third and Lyon to second on the play. Mady Fairchild singled to center field scoring Matheson. Lyon advanced to third with one out. Evans was then hit by a pitch loading the bases. Woods then ground out to end the inning with bases loaded.

It wasn’t until the fifth inning when the Pirates put a run on the board when Emily Matheson made it home on an RBI from Fairchild. Virgin Valley led 3-1.

Virgin Valley scored their fourth run in the 6th on a fielder’s choice when Destiny Moeai made it across the plate. Frei was thrown out at second base.

Back to back doubles by the Dawgs gave them a 5-1 lead in the top of the seventh. Potter scored from third base on a wild pitch for a 6-1 lead.

Moapa Valley ended the sixth inning with a double play in the infield. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Fairchild scored on an error by the left fielder. It was the final run of the game.

Moapa Valley finished with six hits. Longman had two of them.
Andie Wood was the losing pitcher allowing six hits, five walks and a strike out.
Kaysha Heath had a hit for the Bulldogs scoring 2 RBI’s. Riley Price had two hits.
