Professional Golf Association (PGA) member Bryson DeChambeau lived up to his reputation as the longest hitter on the PGA tour Tuesday afternoon in Mesquite.
DeChambeau had four shots within the grid over 400 yards. His longest drive of the day was 412 yards good enough for second place in his grouping of 16. Sixty players, out of five groups will advance to Wednesday’s competition.
DeChambeau will compete in the third group which will tee off at 3:45 pm. Josh Cassaday led the group with a 417 yard bomb. Points were awarded for shots in the grid for the five sets. Scottie Pearman led the group in points edging out DeChambeau.
The longest drive of the day came from DeChambeau’s golfing buddy Kyle Berkshire returning WLD Champion, with a monstrous drive of 447 yards.
Berkshire influenced DeChambeau’s body building two years ago which shocked the golfing world.

On Tues Sept 28; the first day of this competition, Bryson DeChambeau showed up in Mesquite for the PLDA Long Drive World Championship. In addition to wowing everybody with how hard, solid and far he can hit golf balls; he conducted himself like a champion.
And seemed to be having a great time.
For hours, he posed for pictures, signed caps, pennants, balls etc.; for fans, volunteers, fellow competitors and especially kids. Always smiling, warm and gracious, he could not have been nicer to everybody. It all seemed totally genuine; no phony, no pretense, no self importance.
He had a bunch of fans before arriving in Mesquite. He will no
doubt have a bunch more before leaving.
