The girls of the Moapa Valley High School Volleyball team continue sailing on smooth seas as they claimed victory on the court.
The girls began the week playing Somerset Academy Losee on Monday, October 18 and won in three straight sets: 25-5, 25-3, 25-12.
Sienna Nielson had 13 aces with 5 kills while Halle Evans had 7 aces with 8 kills.
On Wednesday, the Lady Pirates visited Coral Academy of Science in Las Vegas. It was a closer match, but they still won in three straight sets. The scores were 25-18, 25-16, 25-18.
Coral Academy played strong defense, but solid passing and serving paced the Pirates to a victory.
Rachel Lyman, Talley Blackwell, and Terra Evans were the top passers for the match. Star offensive player Sydney Reese had 12 kills. Lyman had 7 kills and Emily Matheson added 25 assists with 3 aces.
The last match of the week was against Sunrise Mountain on Friday night at 6:00 pm. The Pirates handled business pretty easily and won 25-8, 25-12, and 25-7.
Talley Blackwell and Edyn Bennet both provided 6 aces each in the game. Terra Evans had 5 aces.
On the offense, Sydney Reese chalked 10 kills, Halle Evans had 7, and Alyssa Jolley had 6.
Emily Matheson had 22 assists in the game.
The girls are now 22-1, headed into the last week of regular season play. They first play against Eldorado (4-12-1) on Tuesday, October 26 at 7:00 pm at Eldorado. Their last regular season game is against rivals Virgin Valley (7-16) on Thursday at 6:00 pm.
